Comments on: Evangelist: I Bought Meth From Gay Escort
Rev. Ted Haggard Admits Buying Drugs Once, But Says He Never Used Them And Threw Them Away
- Well, the Bible says we are ALL sinners, meaning
we ALL have a built-in tendancy to serve ourself,
and our fleshly desires, rather than God. This
applies also to Christians, who make some of the
same mistakes that non-Christians do. However,
I do agree that our modern mega "churches" have
some problems including authoritarianism, covering up, etc. I don't know if Haggard is
actually guilty or if his accuser is trying to
set him up....but, it doesn't change the fact that
Jesus redeemed us. Judas betrayed Jesus but that
did not change what Jesus came to do...which is
to "save" or redeem sinners...which we all are...
we all need saving from our sinful state, including Christian leaders. Let him/her who
is without any sin cast the first stone. I
would not make the MISTAKE of equating Jesus
with the state of modern churches or any so
called Christian leader....no matter how holy
or unholy he or she is....because we all need
to look directly to Jesus. - Reply to this comment
- Haggards only sins were involving the religious right in politics and being a total hypocrite.
Being gay is OK. Using Meth is just dumb.
Time to have all activist churches register as lobbyists and revoke their tax free status.
The Christian Right bought and paid for this useless GOP run government with the subsidies they get from not paying taxes.
Non believers are therefore subsidizing religious groups to pass laws that infringe on the rights of non or other believers.
TIME TO TAX CHURCHES - AS THEY ARE NOW POLITICAL ADVOCATES. - Reply to this comment
- Yeah, Foley only wants the young studs! Also Mike Jones was on the radio today with audio tapes of when Haggard was calling him asking for More Meth Please, and get it to me ASAP along with yourself as delivery boy! Can you imagine Bush meets with this Haggard every Monday to Pray about what we should be doing in Irag? No wonder Irags so screwed up.

One can't even begin to imagine the reactions of his poor wife & children. - Reply to this comment
- RE: "He should join Foley and dance together in the poppy fields with the Wizard of Oz!"
One problem with this: Ted Haggard is an adult - way too old to be Mark Foley's type... - Reply to this comment
- What makes these GOP gay *** drug scandals so funny is that Republicans are always the first to tell you that God (who is a, male, white, midwestern, AMER - RI- CAN) is on their side and that they are morally superior in all ways!
You know, just like Ken Lay, Jack Abramhof, Mark Foley, Jimmy Swaggart, Ted Haggard, and of course TOM "the Hammer" DELAY.
The Moral Compass of the GOP is sailing us onto the rocks!! - Reply to this comment
- Well now at least there is another GOP fallout. They try to use Kerry's remark as the scapegoat of this coming election. Here is the GOP Hypocrocy at it's best. This guy would not openly admit anything, but only if he is outed! He's Gay as they come! He should join Foley and dance together in the poppy fields with the Wizard of Oz!

- Haggard says he bought Meth, but didn't use it.
Sounds familiar
Kinda like: " I smoked, but didn't inhale"
PS
Good thing Barney Frank is a Democrat, or else liberals would be upset with him, too.
Isn't it just terrible when a Republican acts like a Democrat

- He bought the meth and didn't use it. The best line since "I didn't inhale." And he says he only recieved a massage. I bet he did. You know where. He would have been better off just checking himself into a clinic like all the other hypocrits seem to do. I've heard better excuses at school where the dog ate the homework.

- Pt 2
These people have proven they will stop at NOTHING to keep power and money flowing, even if it means hiding the truth, protecting pedophile priests, lies, and yes- even cold blooded MURDER.
I saw through this whole church scam years ago, far as I'm concerned theses stinking bstards and their churches can ALL go bankrupt and blow away, we'd be a hell of a lot better off with out them! - Reply to this comment
- "As I recall, Judas was an apostle. Just because people profess Christianity and are bad people doesn't make all Christians bad people."
Yeah RIGHT! hypocracy at it's finest, the holier than thou family VAlueS crowd is just as dirty and crooked as the rest of us and bit by bit it comes out about this guy and his hypocracy and I'm laughing! "I bouth methamphetamine but I didn't use it and threw it away" he said, yeah, so he ADMITTED he visited a gay escort and bought ILLEGAL DRUGS when up till now he was claiming innocence and "outrage at the unfounded charges!"
If you really want to see hypocracy, just do some research into this christian thing- the reformation, the crusades, the Salem witch trials and all you see is a long and illustrious bloody and gory history, one of mayhem, death, destruction, subversion, bigotry and worse. It's all about MONEY, POWER, and control of the people.
The christian church built it's history and coffers up on controlling people, executing those who dared speak out- thousands were executed or tortured and jailed for "heresy"- even the astronomer who said the earth is NOT flat and revolves around the SUN not vice-versa was jailed by the church. - Reply to this comment
- Wow, all I can say is that lately both Republicans AND evangelical Christians are getting seriously hammered.
In more ways than one, I might add. - Reply to this comment

- The Rocky Mountain News described Haggard as a "giant of the conservative Christian movement, with direct access to President Bush." In May 2005, Harper's Magazine ran a piece on Haggard, reporting that the pastor talked "to President George W. Bush or his advisers every Monday."

- Those that yell the loudest have the most to hide I guess. I hope that this makes these extremist religious nutballs take a good look in the mirror. Modern Christians have more in common with the pharisies than Christ. They are totally corrupted by money and power and are allways the first to step up and stone the "sinners" in the square.
