Thank you RonnieHM, I appreciate your response. How the heck the voters of his district could have re-elected that SOB so many times is beyond me. I only hope that the Foley scandal's media circus will teach americans to actually expect professional behavior from their representatives in Washington. All this stuff doesn't reflect particularly well on our nations morals does it? I hope also that the Catholic Church takes from this news story above that they need to clean house as much as Congress does.

Studds and Republican Daniel Crane were both exposed after each had affairs with 17 year old pages. Both men were censured and neither were forced to resign. There were no allegations of predatory behavior as there is here and the man with whom Studds had the affair defends the relationship still today. Studds passed away last Saturday.

Has it been 23 years alrady? I think there were some other scandals in the 50's and a couple of doozies during the Reconstruction years.

I don't find your curiosity convincing, but I'll humor you. He slept with a 17-year-old page in 1973. It was discovered in 1983, and he was reelected in 1982, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1992 and 1994. He recently died ... probably of laughter.

What's truely amazing is that, not only do GOP politicians now lie almost without provocation, the partly faithful is willing to spread false information as fact almost without conscience. They seem to have decided that the GOP must win at all cost, even if it means subverting the very democracy they claim to care so much about?
