There is no please in america you can legally purchase an "automatic" weapon. Semi-automatics are automatic in regards to how fast one can pull a trigger. I feel stupid saying this but some people that don't konw any better when they see "semi-automatic" go crazy.

Yes americans are still able for the most part to own a semi-automatic weapon and not have to sit home waiting on big brother to come down the road in tanks (as they will eventually) and try to defend them with single-fire once-use hand-guns.

The guy could as easily of killed and/or hurt this many people simply by utilizing common equipment found at a stone quarry. If he had would you all be out there blaming heavy equipment manufacturers?

When it comes out that he was either on dangerous mind-altering prescription drugs and/or illegal drugs will that change the comments?

Of course it won't.

Banning people from owning firearms only increases the chances of things like this occurring. Had law-abiding citizens been armed on the job they could stop issues like this alot faster than waiting on the police to arrive.

The liberals will never understand that someone who is destined to commit an act of violence isn't going to consider what laws we have in place.

And they never will.

I had the same thought as far as using the heavy equipment for a weapon, but did not post it as I did not want to give the dysfunctional people any ideas. It is like the car bombs, roadside bombs etc, am hoping they remain out of the country. With average number of murders in U.S. at 43/a day and dropping we don't want the lunatics running around getting the idea that the now armed public can and does stop them and cause the lunnies to circumvent a direct confrontation. Overall the media broadcasting how the number of people carrying weapons legally and owning home defense weapsons coupled with publicized shooting of burglars, home invaders, and store robberies by private citizens has caused the predators to back off. Sorry for the folks at the quarry, one armed citizen in the group could have stopped most of the carnage.

You are aware that automatic doesn't mean fully automatic , he could have had a hunting rifle , the news loves to call any rifle an assault rifle despite the fact that only a select fire fully auto rifle is an assault rifle , the ak's and ar's people buy from regular gun shops are semi automatic , they just LOOK like assault rifles .

@Tater-salad Gee your argument about everyone having a gun might hold water if not for the fact that several of our heavily armed troops were killed in Afghanistan by rogue Afghanis they trusted. Those troops had no chance because the bad guy had an assault weapon.

The gun (inanimate object) just walked across the border into California under it's own power and then decided to go to the quarry and start shooting people. It all the gun's fault.

There are 43 murders average a day in the U.S. Guns are not the only weapons used. Ball bats, pipes, poison are in play and knives, well they are still the number one choice. Overall more people get carved on in one large city in the U.S. then get shot across the whole counry on a daily basis.

I'm surprised they haven't speculated on the brand name of the gun yet so they can demonize the company who made it.
