I saw a video where defenseless female protesters were maced by police officers. The police officers who did this were so brave. I wonder how much training it took these police to learn how to mace a defenseless person. This makes me want to be a policeman. These police must be the bravest in the world.

Socialism has been denigrated by the press and politicians, because it is one of the greatest threats to THEIR way of life. I consider myself a socialst, and am damn proud of it . . . So was Einstein . . . and he stated that he would never trust human nature (those with wealth) to do the right thing . . . What Einstein said:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boNKRb-aNnM

Capitalism destroys families, forces people to move from job to job with no stable employment, (short of doctors, lawyers, accountants, politicians, etc.). Capitalism puts the bottom line on the dollar, not the humanity, capitalism, as we have seen of late, produces war for profit, war with no good reason for war, murder by politicians, imperialism, homelessness. Capitalism creates huge corporations that have to much power over the government, produces a small but extremely wealthy minority and destroys the middle class.

We have more and better means of production than we have ever had before, yet we have a widening gap between the rich an the poor . . . that has got to tell you something. Some clown not to long ago paid 2.3 million dollars for a photo of Billy the Kid. And the rich still whine and complain about taxes.

Also, contrary to what the super-rich would have you believe, they do not "work hard". The people that "work hard" are the people who clean their toilets, do their laundry, their landscaping, baby-sit their kids clean their house, work in manufacturing, nursing, and many other jobs that demand a great deal of time, dedication, manual labor and sweat.

The #1 Comment on CNN - "More people have been arrested for protesting Wall Street than for wrecking the US economy. You can see who owns the government."

One of the issues here is that Michael Bloomberg is using the NYPD to provide 'extra' services for companies that are mostly clients of his company Bloomberg, LP.

If you go to the wall street area you will regularly see that corporate limos do not need to obey the same traffic laws as the rest of us.

And, now it seems that young people will be arrested for wearing a political t-shirt or merely existing outside of a 'free speech zone', which is probably located in another part of the state.

The FACT is that these arrests are NOT for traffic violations and minor rowdyness. They are HARASSMENT by the POLICE to ANYONE WHO THREATENS THE KINGS OF WALL STREET.
THe Police are under direct orders from above (read: the Mayor) to diffuse any protest of the untouchable Wall Street...
CBS News will NOT cover this because their Corporate owners are aligned WITH the Wall Streeters.
Money likes Money and our News Media outlets are mouthpieces for them.

Why don't you guys cover what's going on in NYC right now? Are you expecting viewers like me to return to your station if you completely ignore the outrages being perpetrated on protestors there? Those who act with cowardice, and are complicit with violations of our constitutional rights are no different than those who violate our rights. Are you a news organization, or a gossip column? If you are a gossip column, don't bother to report on it. The news stations that do will get my viewership, those that don't, won't.

This story has not really been in the news. What kind of fame are you talking about? Sarah Palin utters a few words and every evening news cast repeats what she has said. She has teased out more than 15 minutes of fame for being foolish...these Wall Street protesters, well, they are hardly mentioned by ABC, NBC or CBS nightly news.

Occupy Wall St. through peace not violence. The NYPD has enough on their hands. If you want to help decrease the debt, be the solution. The 80 protesters wasted money that could have gone towards helping unemployed families.

They are "being the solution". they're trying to bring attention to the wallstreet greed, that has cost tax payers billions in bail out money. so it doesn't happen again. Iguess this is your attempt at being part of the solution?

All over the world people are seeing the NYPD acting like paid thugs, arresting and beating young people for little, if any, reason. At the same time, not a single prosecution for wall street crimes that looted billions and billions of dollars. What is wrong with this picture?

One of the problems that is visible with the police violence against the wall street protesters is that it does not appear to be intended to protect and defend but rather to inflict punishment and fear.

Police should, of course, defend the public and themselves through the appropriate and proportional use of force.

However, when they use force to inflict punishment for political purposes or to further private interests of corporations then they have crossed the line from defenders of the law to become law breakers themselves.
