I feel bad for the victims. I don't understand why trailer homes are even allowed to be sold as permanent residences. How many of the victims were not in one of those flimsy things? Those shouldn't really be considered true housing options in tornado alley

What?

Do you know how many trailer homes were destroyed?

Did you read the article? One tornado went through the industrial district. A tornado struck near the University of Alabama. Do you think U. of A. uses trailer for class rooms? Do you ever watch NCAA sports and see the campuses when they advertise?

People can't afford to build - or buy - normal residences (let alone F4- and F5-proof homes) in this Republican economy of "flood-up/trickle-down" economics, inequitable free trade, and deregulation.

And don't offer up apartment buildings as alternatives...no basement, bigger surface area to catch the wind, generally built no tougher than stick-built homes.

At least a trailer offers some a home - ma nature willing.
