Comments on: Accused Trooper Shooter No Folk Hero
Escaped Inmate 'Bucky' Phillips Was A Western N.Y. Amusement Before Shooting
- His daughter and her mother were responsible, in no small part, for the Troopers being shot. If they cared at all about Bucky, they would have turned him in thus ending the possibilities of the shootings before they began. As it is now, the likelyhood of him going peacefully are greatly diminished. He might not have shot at citizens, but these Troopers are people too and have loved ones also. They were only doing their jobs. God bless their children and loved ones, not the people that precipitated this mess in the first place by aiding a violent felon. Speaking of the Horton fellow, it was an unfortunate set of circumstances regarding his shooting, but as I recall, he was dragging a Trooper from the back of his ATV for at least a few tenths of a mile before he was shot, and did not obey orders to stop. It sounds to me like he could have done more to preserve his life than he did. When did it become an option whether or not to stop when asked to by law enforcement?

- I am a resident of Chautauqua County for 47 years. I live within 15 minutes of where all has been taking place. He has not tried to hurt any resident or broken into anywhere where people have been home. Yes he needs to go back to jail for his crimes,( innocent until proven guilty) but I would like to know about the Horton Family whose son was shot in the back and killed by an officer thinking he was shooting Bucky. There is a lot more that most do not know. I am more afraid of being shot by the police than by Bucky! Using his family to bring him out has brought on this horrible chain of events. I pray that he turns himself in and nobody else gets hurt.
God Bless his Children and Grandchildren. - Reply to this comment
- This scumbag needs to be taken off the street NOW!! Hearing of these (now 3 officers) reminds me of the shooting death of Trooper AJ Speer (a resident of my hometown) this summer. How could you shoot an officer?
Unfortunately I don't think he will go peacefully. It will end up being a shoot out between him and his captors.
I pray each night that no other officers are hurt tracking this animal down and that he is put where he belongs. Six feet under ground. - Reply to this comment
- Yes, people like this only get worse, they don't get better. This guy needs to be caught and should never have been allowed to be alone without supervision regardless that he was in prison. That, along with allowance to his either present or former girlfriend to give affordable bail was ludicrous.

- This lowlife needs to be caught and sent back to jail for life. Shame on the local resdidents for joking about this loser, and the law enforcement efforts to catch him. Now after seeing up close that he is a true scumbag, the locals are finally changing their opinions of him. Hopefully these two brave troopers will pull through and justice will be served without any more people getting hurt, but if anyone needs some frontier justice it's Ralph Phillips.
