Some of you have disconnect almost to an art form.
Clinton lied to cover a personal matter that shouldn't even have been part of a grand jury question, as it was only some sorry Gingrichian republic-cons seeking dirt to throw, because they had no other fault to hang on the man.

Libby lied to cover a treasonous act, the exposing of an active CIA operative, which threatens not only her life, but the lives of any "assets" she might have associated with. (vbnvbn, even if she were not, why don't you see the danger to her and her friends of Novak on CNN spewing to the world that she was?)That is indeed treason, 30 years would have been more appropriate.

Truth is Libby should have been charged with aiding and abetting the obstruction of investigating an act of treason, he already got off light by not being so charged.

All you neocon-victs with you-know-what envy over Clinton are "straining at gnats, while swallowing a camel"...

I say hang Clinton and then hang Libby.

And then maybe we should start on Bush, Cheney, and the rest of those lying SOB's.

No, actually, criminal Libby lied to a grand jury not the FBI - just as Clinton did. The difference is that President Clinton lied about a trivial personal matter that had nothing whatsoever to do with his role as president. And his lie did nothing to jeopardize national security. Libby, on the other hand, deliberately and knowingly obstructed an investigation of an extremely serious matter of the outing of a CIA agent for political gain by the Bushy regime. If you have no problem with President Clinton being impeached for the lie he told on a purely personal matter, why aren't you outraged by the likes of criminal Libby lying about an issue of national security? And criminal Libby is a lawyer who should know and behave better!!!!

The task now is to follow the chain of evidence higher up the ladder. Scooter did not think this up or set this in motion all on his lonesome.

Well stated ObservantX !

It has been fun watching the GOP faithful bail out on Bush in their debate, but impeaching him would probably backfire even though there has never been a president who deserves it more.

Any impeachment hearing would play into the hands of the GOP and it would unify them for 2008. Its better to leave them divided and let regime change occur in 2008.

So again we have the Repugnican apologists dragging out Bill Clinton's lie about an extramarital *** as if to justify Libby's outing a CIA operative as retribution for her husband blowing the whistle on GeorgenDick's bogus Niger uranium claims.

Sorry guys, it doesn't wash. Quit yammering about "Bill did this and Bill did that..." It doesn't apply. Bill is not the Prez anymore. The dress stain does not have the impact of undermining our country's intelligence operations for petty payback.

Please be honest and admit that these thugs will say anything and do anything to anyone to maintain their iron grip around the Statue of Liberty's throat. 30 months in a country club "prison" is still a slap on the wrist. This should have been handled as treason. If you or I did the same thing we would be in Leavenworth right now trying to keep our back to the wall and our virginity intact.

The task now is to follow the chain of evidence higher up the ladder. Scooter did not think this up or set this in motion all on his lonesome.

Well, I'm a Dem that doesn't think Libby should have to serve any jail time. What he did was wrong, but the stiff fine (250,000) IMHO was punishment enough.

Also note the honest ethical dems just had a member of the house of rep indicted for wide ranging forms of corruption. Including taking bribes. His fellow black congressman donn't think this should preclude him from committee membership and I have heard of no attempts to remove him from office by dems or even investigate his actions.

I guess if you are a pub they throw the book at you. If you are dem they look the other way

Many of us hope and pray that the judge refuses to let him delay his prison sentence. Force the Shrub to decide whether to pardon him now. If he does, that's one more well-deserved major slap to the Republican slimeballs. Libby is a pawn anyways. The real criminals are Cheney and the Shrub. We need to prosecute them for war crimes and hang them after convicted.
