Lara, I just now found out about the assault on you in Egypt. I felt sad for you and I felt proud that you spoke out. You have always been my favorite reporter on 60 Minutes. Hello Lara. Please continue to cover the Benghazi story. Today 10/26 we are learning that the CIA operatives/White House not only ignored but denied the requests of our people in Benghazi and the are to go to the defense of the Embassy personnel. As usual the main networks and news outlets aren't covering the story to protect this shoddy Administration. I implore you to continue your search for truth and get behind this story.
As a right of center Libertarian-Republican who can't stand Obama, I have been tuning out the main networks for years now because I feel there is so much bias toward the liberal/leftist elements in mainstream media reporting in favor of Fox and web based news outlets like WND. Therefore, I compliment CBS for recognizing the really, unusually courageous, sincere and determined journalist that Lara Logan is in making her their Senior Foreign Affairs Correspondent! She has caused me to have a whole new respect for CBS among the networks and just maybe now I will consider CBS a valid source for unbiased news or at least an outlet where there is balance between the leftist ideology most journalists subscribe to and those few who refuse to believe it is really so even when the facts say otherwise!
Personally, I question the reasoning of Lara Logan as an individual in putting herself as a mother of 2 children in such danger by going into the Islamic World that has no respect for women due to its adherence to the Shariah Code of Islam and doing the dangerous work of real journalism in exposing what so many in the West don't want to believe! Fact is the votaries of the Islamic Shariah system don't think like we do and don't like western civilization as she has shown. I hope and pray for her and her family that she will always be able to come home to them because she is confronting people who will really want to kill her for what she represents. As a westerner, I praise her as she shows the indominitable spirit of Western Civilization that can stand up and overcome! I grew up watching 60 Minutes and remember Mike Wallace, Morley Safer and Bob Schaefer as well as Mickey Rooney! They encouraged both critical thinking as well as knowledge of current issues which is becoming lost in some segments of American society today. Since you have Lara Logan, I now feel obligated to make an extra effort to come back on Sunday night and give you 60 minutes of my time away from the WWW!
Lara's husband is a military contractor originally from TX. If nothing else, he must be an exceptional man to put up with her lifestyle that requires her to be so far away in danger for long periods of time! Hope their relationship can last as long as Laura's lifespan which I hope will be into a ripe old age despite the desires of those who would like to kill her!
When I heard about you being attacked I thought "what a terrible tragedy, but when are these people going to learn to quit rushing into situations they don't understand". I was ignorant of your knowledge of the Middle East, and am deeply sorry for my rush to judgment. You are indeed a Hero, and I have proven myself a fool. I had given up on ever getting news from the the mainstream media because they all seem to be 'in the tank' for the Democrat talking points and the current Administration - and Fox for the Republicans. I came by Ms. Logan's report on Afghanistan by accident, thoroughly well impressed I will tune in to CBS News now.
