?she has never been elected either.?

You are simply wrong. Senator Lisa Murkowski was elected three times to Alaska?s House, and elected by the members of her party to be the State House?s majority leader before her father, former US Senator, and at the time Alaska Governor, Frank Murkowski, named her to fill the seat he vacated in the US Senate. After 2 years in the US Senate, Lisa Murkowski won a 6 year term, defeating former 2 term Mayor of Anchorage, and 2 term Governor of Alaska, Tony Knowles (Sarah Palin?s Democratic opponent in the 2006 Alaska Governor?s contest).

There should be no compromise whatsoever. She is ill advised to open her piehole to do so. That is one of the problems with the Repubs atm they need to get their conservative values back. No compromise ever, with overspending backwards liberals.

Wow - a republican beats a tea party candidate, and then she calls for cooperation between republicans (party of no) and democrats (party of the ordinary people)

Yes, there are good republicans. thanks Mrs Murkowski, there may be hope for this country (did I spell that right?)

BTW, How many realize that the tea party is the brainchild of the Koch brothers, whose 90 Billion $$ sales empire in energy is the second largest privately owned firm in the country. And their greed is driving them to more and more, eg something about "the love of money (or is it lust) is the root of all evil)

And what is the Koch brothers backgroung - their grand aunt Ilse Kock was sentenced to life in prison in germany after WWII - for being in the business of making lampshades out of Jews skin in the death camps.

Do you want to be associated with such people?

Ok, let's review one ticked off person who boiled over in the comments:

michaelheit: The only "duly elected candidate" in the Alaska Senate race is Ms. Murkowski. No one else in this Senate race had previously been elected to the Senate so she is the only candidate that could be the duly elected candidate. Nit-picking sure. Sounds like you are ticked off that she lost the Republican primary but will likely still win the election as a write-in. The Constitution never mentions political parties. Neither party have the right to control who will be the candidates in the election. Her win is as good as any other win. Suck it up and try for another day.

Let's work on your English too: "*you're too *damn liberal". You're spelling a little too liberally.

I do likely agree with you on spending. The US Senate should cut back on the amount of money sent to Alaska. Alaska receives about $1.87 from the federal government for each $1 in taxes Alaskans pay to the federal government http://www.taxfoundation.org/files/sr139.pdf I think Katie probably lives in New York City. New York State receives about 79 cents from the federal government for every $1 in taxes people from NY send to the federal government. I suspect the liberals in NY would appreciate having some of the money that Alaskan's have been receiving. Those ratios are probably enough in themselves to make an Alaskan liberal and a NY resident want to be conservative.

Be careful what you wish for... you might get what you don't want. If the federal government were to cut back it's Alaska spending to equal the amount of money Alaska's taxpayer send to the federal government it would probably cause another recession in Alaska due to the reduced spending.

If Murkowski is re-elected, it would be great if she and all the other Senators agreed to no longer use earmarks.

How is it that no one can wear a campaign button or any other ornament promoting a certain candidate, but Murkowski is allowed to hand out tens of thousands of wristbands with her name on them so that voters could wear them into the booth to spell her name right?

The Tea Party is crawling all over the interwebs to destroy all semblance of debate and reason. You'd think they'd all be getting off their fat behinds and actually DOING something? But no, community organizing is beneath them! It's hilarious, but what's more hilarious is I'm sitting here cheering LISA MURKOWSKI on! Never would've thought.

She doesn't want Obama to fail? She does want our country to fail then because that's exactly what he is doing with his spending and borrowing and forcing us all to pay for healthcare. One thing Obama being president has taught me is that our country needs to get back to it's conservative roots. We have too many people that expect something for nothing. How disrespectful and insulting to all who died fighting for our country. They would be so ashamed of that lazy attitude.

Ms. Couric,

You have interviewed the write in candidate ... now how about interviewing the duly elected candidate against whom she is running? Oh, I forgot ... your too dam liberal to want to give the truth a chance on prime time TV ... I'm going to switch to another news source because your "news coverage" is just to dam left wing liberal to stomach anymore to watch anymore. You wouldn't know the true feelings of this nation if they bit you in the butt. Your puppet masters simply want to keep the sheeple brainwashed. What a shame Katie, you used to be a very interesting person and worth the time to listen to ... but that's ok because the true tea partiers are going to change all this lame-stream media crap anyway. Y9ou can control your stories; but cannot control the true spirit of freedom.

Maybe a dose of reality is what you need ... why don't you go to the airport, get a ticket, be told to go through the body scanner ... and opt out.
