- It will sound difficult to believe but everything indicates that Pres. Calderon is the only authority fighting against drug cartels. The governors of the states one way or another are working with the cartels, you never see any news showing they capture any person related to drugs.
The bad thing is that, since Calderon is doing his job confiscating arms, drugs and money from these groups, they are migrating their activities to other kind of crimes like kidnapping and extortion and that is in the jurisdiction of the governors of the states and they do nothing.
People may thing the drug war only affects the drug related people, well no, now everybody in Mexico is affected for this, a lot of business people are suffering kidnaps and extortions, they are closing their businesses and getting out of the country.
If all authorities were fighting this war together, we would not be having this crisis. - Reply to this comment
- This is an example of the more than 90,000 weapons the Calderon government has confiscated in the last four years. Almost all of them high powered and all of them bought in the United States.
The above is a direct excerpt from the story. It is an out and out lie. Peter Greenberg should be ashamed to call himself an editor. The facts were not checked, Calderon lies and he knows it. - Reply to this comment
- "This is an example of the more than 90,000 weapons the Calderon government has confiscated in the last four years. Almost all of them high powered and all of them bought in the United States." I think this nut forgot to tell folks or at least include that much of the US equipment is coming from his own forces. It goes from the US to Mexican military/ law enforcement, to the drug dealers. Give me a break.

- Calderon hides in a multi-million dollar war bunker while the innocent citizens get mutilated. That's the kind of leadership you can believe in. Sounds like the US, becoming the hired mercanaries of the world, while our public servants or leaders watch from their secure luxury suites. Fire them all and change our government. Stop funding these corrupt leaders that have proven they can't govern.

- In "Chicago in the 30's": the Kennedy Family (after dealing with "Illegal Alcohol" and create one of the biggest economic and political fortunes -that after been legalized-) they appear as "socialites" and Politicians UNTIL our days... (as Pablo Escobar and Chapo Guzman!)
I do ask myselft: it is possible that a clan like them is behind the merchandizing of the actual "illegal drugs" for their profit???
There is not other answer to the effort to keep them illegal.
Let's LEGALLIZE THEM
Let's TAX them
That will stop the killings and will help the "sick" people to reach good quality merchandice PAYING TAXAS, and We... the People will stop paying for extra security, health problems and Deads.
For those who oppose:
I am an addict who is not consuming anymore.
I can tell you: those who want it will find it: Legal or NOT
Keeping it illegal AND UNcontrolled just generate high price and NOT Taxas. - Reply to this comment
