- Government likes to blame the public on economic failures that government itself created.
The house has been in the hands of the Democrats for years. It is government, both Parties, not the populous that failed in regulation, forcing banks to issue risk loans that caused the mortgage meltdown and bankrupting itself with every government agency where it is government that cannot even constitute a budget to be fiscally responsible. It is government that grows itself even larger by salary increases, new departments to hire all new staff, where this requires even more taxpayers to fund the increasing mismanagement and fiscal irresponsibility. - Reply to this comment
- Its really easy to blame the economy on our Goverment but you know what its every Americans fault Because every body want to make more money when wages go up so does every thing else if we all made the same amount things would better but people get greedy this is why we are in det up to our ears if every body made the same amount we all could live the American dream so dont blame our president blame the American people. see Greed got us where we are now and if it does not stop there wont be nothing left.so stop belly aching and suck it up and think about this if you want things to get better in America then people need to stop being so Greedy MY opinion if you make more then $50.000 a year you make to much.nobody needs that much money or is money more important than life its self people need to put there faith in GOD not money.that"s what got us in this mess money does not love us but GOD does put your faith in our father and not money

- The so called ?Tea Party? is not a centralized organization or a Political Party. The movement is based on colonist uprising in 1773 in Boston, hence the ?Boston Tea party.? The ?party? was symbolism to discard exports duty?s in protest to excessive taxation by a bloated wasteful British government. Many political Parties and politicians want to claim they follow the movement or run it, but the movement is whoever wants more Liberty and smaller government in the general population?. Simple as that. The public includes law abiding moms and dads, even children who see a current government throwing debt on their future by the failures of this current generation. Since the movement is not a organized political Party but an establishment movement, it constant of all individuals, law abiding and the non-law abiding. Some on the Left want to target the general population as extremist and raciest for political gains of a minority movement of a large growing governance. The general population consist of us all, the good as well as the bad, who like basic freedoms and less controlling regulation. The minority want a large socialized government.
So what created the "tea party" movement? Big government agendas pushed by an administration and the hard Left in the heart of a recession. We don't have a recovery because of the uncertainty created by Federal expansion in size, regulation, debt, and taxes; where industry is apprehensive to expand and hire by the leashing, gagging, and harnessing by excessive regulation. Some pity Obama by the quote: just give Obama?s agenda a chance, but in reality it is the poor Americans out of work that need jobs and a management entity governing from the Center, not the hard Left. Obama is about a progressive agenda, Americans are about jobs, their freedoms, and economic recovery... hence the Tea Party of Independents, Republicans, and Democrats, unsure what or who they are in an atmosphere of losing basic establishment Freedoms. - Reply to this comment
- All candidates for public office should be required to fill out a questionaire saying what their solution is for a predetermined set of issues. Then maybe the debate would be more about policy.
Nevertheless, I believe the only outcome we can have with the monied campaign system that we have is that big business and financial institutions will control the country. - Reply to this comment
- I Think that our Goverment is just throwing away money and not trying to benefit America. getting people back to work needs top priority that would give the economy the boost it needs more jobs more money going in to the economy whats so hard about that its been done before if new ideas don't work why not try the ideas from past presidents that did nobody can come up with a solution our Goverment is stumped. they just don't want to tell us that So its up to us as Americans to create our own ways of making things work so in other words we are on our own. our Goverment is not about America its about the Goverment

- You all forget what created the "tea party". The socialist agendas pushed by Obama and the hard Left in the heart of a recession. We don't have a recovery because of the uncertainty created by all of the new Federal regulations where industry is apprehensive to expand and hire. Not poor Obama, just give him a change, but poor Americans out of work that need jobs and a management entity governing from the Center. Obama is about a progressive agenda, Americans are about jobs and recovery... hence the tea party and Independents unsure what or who they are and what is happening to their Liberty.

- I am a new independent because I am totally disgusted with congress especially my former party the democrats. Here is the kind of changes I would like to see. Congress has to abide by all the laws it passes. Congress has to have the same health plans as everyone else. The people get to vote on raises for congress. Retire at half pay. Term limits. TORT reform. I cannot tell you how good it felt to become "unaffiliated"!

- As i watched this piece, I saw the frustration of Americans and I can appreciate it. Yet, in my mind of minds I don't understand why the average American thinks that by nominating President Obama that the economy or America would rise from the ashes the middle class would ascend to the and sit on the mountain top. Get it America, America was in a depression even though it was called a recession. It takes time to get out of the depression. To ascend to the mountain top Americans must get rid of those in Congress who still support the ideas of the past government. Obama is the president of a democracy. So don't just change the president, change those who don't support his ideas.
Americans need to grow up and stop acting like babies. Yes, the banks have recovered some and that's good. Now it's up to our leaders to pull up the middle class if there is such a thing as the middle class. The power of America has always rested in the vote... So vote but understand that change take time.
A pleasant evening to you and keep up the good work Ms. Katie Couric. - Reply to this comment
