- How can you have the audacity to title this tragedy "Gay student..." when this very label is what he did not want to own so badly that he killed himself NOT to have it. If he was gay, he would have "come out of the closet" already. But he was a confused kid in college...the"experimental years." There's got to be a title with more cooth, and respect, hmmm...?---'Confused student' or even 'bi-curious' would be more appropriate. Just a thought...

- people are too trusting. I wouldn't let my college kids live in dorms, just because people are in college with their parents money doesn't mean they aren't about to start their prison career. I learned my lesson after getting a Registered Sex Offender roommate not finding out til it started getting violent and had to get police to get him away. some people want to be evil and you never know

One assumes they refer to the renewed acceptability of bigotry in this country.
We can thank the repubs and tea baggers for that. - Reply to this comment
- Of all the news articles all over the net regarding this incident, not a single one has indicated that the girl did anything wrong other than let the guy use her computer. This is either very bad reporting or law enforcement run amuck.

- Man, I have no sympathy, whatsoever, for people who commit suicide. No matter what their situation, it is ALWAYS selfish. I have sympathy for those that they hurt, because it ALWAYS hurts/affects someone else, but definitely not for them. And let's face it people, even though homosexuals are more accepted now than in past times...there will NEVER be a time when they are accepted by the majority...never. You know why? Because humans are born with an innate sense of right and wrong, normal and abnormal.

- Something is seriously wrong with anyone who would actually question the severity of this act. I mean come on people, it is not legal to secretly videotape a person performing a sexual act without consent and then broadcast the video. Even defending these two students in any measure is crazy. This was nothing other than a hate crime with a tragic end. Unfortunately what we are seeing is the desensitization of our youth thanks to Facebook. They post everything and anything no matter how outrageous. There is no shame, nothing is sacred or private anymore. So it figures that these two idiots would have other students supporting them. You would have to be an utter idiot to even suggest this was just a joke, and not meant to be that harmful. No one would do this without the intent to hurt someone.

- musiclady92301, it IS bigotry to have negative attitudes about gay and lesbian people. It doesn't matter how "respectful" you think you are about expressing them. Those attitudes are based on arbitrary superstition, and they are primitive and disgusting.

- This may sound awful, but I honestly think it's too bad that Clementi didn't kill Ravi instead of himself. He was apparently a sweet kid with a conscience, raised right, who would never think of doing any such thing--or anything else to hurt someone.
Of course no one at all had to die, or suffer in any way. But too many people in our society think that cruelty and humiliation are somehow amusing. And that feeling hurt by cruelty and humiliation is somehow weak. - Reply to this comment
- HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT FOR ME. BUT I DO NOT CONDEMN THOSE WHO ARE. THIS IS NOT ABOUT GOD, OR RELIGION, THIS IS ABOUT PRIVACY AND RESPECT. WHETHER THIS YOUNG MAN WAS GAY OR NOT, THE FACT THAT SOMEONE VIDEO TAPED HIS MOST INTIMATE MOMENTS IS AWFUL! AND TO SHOW IT ON LINE, THAT IS EVEN MORE TERRIBLE! IF THESE TWO STUDENTS WERE INVOLVED, I THINK THEY SHOULD GET THE MAXIMUM PUNISHMENT.
