Comments on: Stimulus Projects that Created No Jobs

- Jobs are created when a good or service is produced for which there is a demand.
When the government subsidizes progrommes..ahem, I mean programs, jobs are not created. What's created are subsidized, temporary positions using tax dollars, and usually for an endeavor for which there is no demand for the good or service purportedly being produced.
Before the Liberal's eyes roll back in their head and they start convulsing, or the Conservatives applaud, we'd be honest to observe that Bush jr was as addicted to Keynesian guided spending as Obama. The economic song remains the same, only the names have changed.
The idea that you leverage credit to get out of debt whilst producing nothing doesn't work any better for a nation state than it does for average-Joe domestic household. - Reply to this comment

- I turned my head when I heard the reporter reference Newark, Ohio. I can't tell you how many times i've walked/biked/driven past that pastor's house.
Don't let em fool you: that road needed to be done. The road is a bottleneck and like EVERY construction project since the dawn of construction projects, someone is unhappy. My uncle lost house in the same town for a construction project, a place where half of America would have enjoyed a saturday afternoon.
Predictable network news: Take :20 to illustrate local lil' town where bad construction project comes and hear the sad news. :09 sound bite with guy who loses front yard. Then, use it to paint a face about crazed cocaine monkeys, etc. WOW.
Too bad the hook just sucked. The project is needed. There is a bottleneck. Hang out on Mt. Vernon St. & Deo Drive & Waterworks road (Hurray to see the waterworks behind pastor..) during Newark's "rush hour"...but it's still a little pain in the butt for a little town...that's out of money, that can't fill the potholes. Are you hearing me, Michigan and Pennsylvania & the rest of Ohio?
So...I'm glad to see that the money IS working.
Oh yeah...CBS Internet types..if you're browsing the site, props to you, but there are two sides to a story.
PS: Newark Catholic Football Green Wave Football rocks!

- In whose mind is photographing ants in other countries or studying monkey behavior an appropriate thing to go into debt over? Public works projects, new low income housing, community farms, these are the type of projects that the US should go into debt over. Projects that benefit the US and put people to work is what you spend money one to stimulate the economy. Only an idiot such as our Prez would consider studying how monkeys feel about unfairness and expect it to stimulate thye economy.

- Please 3 million "saved" jobs it is a joke these are police, fire fighters and teachers who are on the verge of being laid off again if another porkulous isn't past soon. The porkulous bill has been a joke if it was SO successful why have the dems been trying to push for about ten different so called jobs bill since the porkulous was passed.
I like to say Obama is fooling people or people are stupid but his approval ratings is at 45% and falling at this rate he will be at Bush's 31% before the end of his first term. America is gradually waking up and realizing this teleprompter in chief is a joke and is not a leader. I can't wait for Nov. but I really can't wait until 2012, I?m sure we will see the liberals peaceful attitudes when they are rioting in the street as they always do when they don?t get their way. - Reply to this comment
- Out of $700 billion in stimulus money, if this is the worst the Republicans can find, then I would say that President Obama is doing a pretty darn good job.
How do I know this is the worst that the Republicans could find? If they had anything more significant they would lead with that rather than this trivia.
CBS Trivia ought to be ashamed to pretend that they are CBS News. The news here is actually how little waste there is. - Reply to this comment

- Did you see the list of the stimulus projects, it was a liberal wish list of special interest projects payed with our taxes and has saddled our children and grandchildren with a debt they cannot escape. These people must be held accountable.

- I'm sure McCain and Coburn could find a few needles in the haystack of all the stimulus work to gripe about.
What they forget to tell you is that 3 million jobs were created that kept people in their homes, paying their mortgages, and spending money which in turn creates even more jobs.
If the GOP had been in charge we would right now be in the depths of the Second Great Depression.
The President's programs prevented the huge GOP catastrophe from gettng any worse. And now we are slowly starting to dig our way back out of this massive GOP crater.
