- Pardon my ignorance, but I thought single parents with little or no income who had dependent children recieved FOOD STAMPS ? Why are these children going hungry? and more If they are receiving subsidity and are not using it for the children, the children should be moved to foster care where they will be fed and cared for. Food is a basic human need and no parent should be allowed to keep children when they can not provide basic human needs. It is not humaine. Also where are the grandparents in this household where the children are sleeping on their couch? Are they on social security trying to provide for this family also? This isn't a moral issue, or a social issue, it is an issue of basic human needs, we in the USA provide food for basic human needs to children all over the world. Looks like we need to check more closly on American children.

- Why would a prospective parent choose to bring another child into the
world when they know they have no means of supporting the child other
than public assistance. It represents a lack of respect and regard for
children, (as well as everyone else). It expresses a derision of any kind
of social structure and total disdain for society in general. It is a class
warfare in which you force your arch enemy, (working folks), into supporting your child (as well as yourself). And we will continue to
decline as a republic because of the political correctness with which
we reward this kind of mind numbing opera. - Reply to this comment
- Matthew 12:36
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Your minds are sick. You see poor hungry children and all you can do is criticize.
Extensions do not cost $200.00, hair weaving is simple and costs as little as $10 for the extensions. If they were in rags would that soften your hearts?
Poverty is bad enough without hypocrites blaming you for your situation. Most of the world lives in poverty, mainly because of sick & selfish attitudes such as seen on this site. You should be ashamed of yourselves. You should also fear rightly for your hardened hearts & your already dead souls. - Reply to this comment
- I am truly sorry for the situation these kids find themselves, and cannot help but wonder how it all came about. Their father(s) was absent from the presentation. Knowing that children are the result of sexual intercourse, the lady is obviously very sexually active. With whom? One partner, multiple partners, one night stands, one permanent partner contributing to the creation and raising of all these children... the combination is endless. Has she ever heard of birth control? Did she want all these children knowing she does not have the financial resources to provide for them?
Pity those children, I hope they will be educated to be able to get out of the grove. - Reply to this comment
- I don't understand how these women can go on TV and talk about how bad off they are and having to send their children to bed hungry, yet they manage to have their NAILS done. It appears that they do not have their priorities in the right place. When you become a parent your top priority is your children, not yourself, not your nails, not your hair, your KIDS. I am sure there are plenty of McDonalds, Wal-Marts and other locations hiring, but they are just not what most of these people are looking for. NEWS FLASH **IF YOUR FAMILY IS STARVING AND YOU ARE OUT OF A JOB, YOU TAKE WHAT IS AVAILABLE** Children of recession my rear end, my family was poor growing up and I didn't hear one thing about it. My family made do with what we had and if there were any concessions to be made, my parent's made sure that my sister and I did not go without. GET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT PEOPLE.

- There are a lot of negative comments on this board. I think that the majority of people getting assistance need it. There are always, in any society, people who 'take'. You're always going to have that problem that will always be an issue - no matter what. But, to belittle someone for not having what you have in life shows a lack of awareness and no compassion esp. for the children who are suffering. The 'takers' make up a very small percentage - society tends to hone in on people who seem to be getting something for nothing. Would you like to be in their shoes?

- News flash............... the majority of people getting welfare are White! The majority getting welfare according thier statistical groups are minorities. Just a shell game. You people watch to many movies. i have yet to see a very poor school where all of the kids have flashy clothes, that is just in the movies. I see poor people with one or two children who have lost a job and are having a tough time. oh but I forgot......When a white person who was making 6 figures lose their job and are on welfare... all of the post are positive. The problem is that people who post all of the negative comment are the real losers....think about it?

- I really for sorry for these children but have to agree with the comments above. Why so many children when it is obvious they cannot support them???? The mothers seem to be able to look after themselves very nicely and none of them seem to be starving. Where are the fathers, the mothers should know them, be it one or many, and welfare should go after them to repay child support. We are just creating another generation to follow the same course and increase the welfare cost to those of us who pay taxes. I for one have had enough.

- I'm glad to see that my observations match preceding comments, since I am rather annoyed after viewing this piece.
I taught in a 'ghetto' neighborhood and could never understand spending priorities, 80-90% free/reduced lunch 'victims' with Guess jeans (new! not from Goodwill where I shop!) and hair extensions, fresh fake nails, brand new cell phones...all these trappings yet no fiscal responsibility.
Yes, where are all the daddies? Hello?? And why in the world does anyone have that many children?! Do you think these families' poverty problems just started this year? I doubt it. Responsible parents PLAN pregnancies. (In fact, why is that issue constantly skirted? Oh, I forgot, we're all supposed practice abstinance and only teach that...sorry.)
I'm thinking that perhaps CBS allowed these 'unfortunate' victims to look so dolled up so it would AGGRAVATE those of us paying taxes to support those large families? It sure worked! - Reply to this comment
- AMEN! I am angry that these people continue to have children. Many of us only had one child so we could take care of ourselves and not count on the government to take care of us. Or even EXPECT the government to take care of us.
