- To all the conservatives that argue and argue that hate crimes laws are "unnecessary," please try to defend this case in that light. Tell me somehow it's all the fault of "liberal bias" or something. I live in New Mexico, and we have some problems, I grant you, but I just don't see the kind of incredibly ugly race hate between hispanics and anglos that I see in the rust belt and midwest. I have some relatives in that part of the country and they are the most hard headed bigots I've ever met.

- My only hope is that the dirty cops share a cell with the Mexican mafia.The two teenaged thugs should be given at least 10 years to reflect on the horrible crime they committed.

- This is the other reason for hate crimes laws. They allow the government to step in when the local police are dirty and willing to overlook crimes against some minorities.
