- President Obama is not only the most articulate, intelligent, dignified president in a long time, he has a quality I can only describe as grace. His words, wonderful as they were, were eclipsed by his persona. I could not have been prouder of my president - as much for who and what he is and represents. It was more than the reelection of a black man to the highest office in the land, demonstrating that we, as a people, have risen beyond the shackles of racism, embracing respect for an individual's intrinsic worth, his intelligence, his dignity, his character and his intelligence. We have once again affirmed the vision of the founding fathers of equality, respect, and acceptance of each other as fellow human beings. I have never been prouder of a president, or of the American electorate, who showed remarkable good judgement.

- Oh, it impressed the right, alright! They actually had to THINK once, for the FIRST time in their lives! IF they knew HOW to think!

- Bob Schieffer should retire.
Your commentaries are becoming less and less relevant.
On election day you commented that Obama didn't have the people's mandated because he didn't win the popular vote. You were wrong. O'Donnel corrected you (roll the tape).
Retire please. You don't make sense anymore. - Reply to this comment
- Obama, prior to the day of Inauguration, kicked off an IT machine enlisting membership to "Organizing for Action". In his speech yesterday,he alluded to this group & made it clear that we the voters have power. Using this "O for A" organization, we are empowered.

- Not surprising considering this is coming from Bob "The WASP" Schieffer.

- If Obama had done a beautifully rhetorical speech, the pundits would say he didn't establish his vision or goals for the upcoming administration. I'm seeing quotes on twitter already from this speech. If history teaches us anything, it teaches us that the up close vision isn't always accurate. Look at Lincoln at Gettysburg. Time often makes our judgements look foolish and uninformed. More than the words, the fact of a black man standing on that podium not once, but twice, is something history will honor.

- Bob Schieffer should have been put out to pasture long ago! He wouldn't remember a good line if he heard one!!!!
And he now can't get past being labeled the worst moderator in modern history!!!! - Reply to this comment
- Yeah, the hope and change or last time just doesn't cut it anymore. Tough to get excited about four more years of George Bush with progressive social programs. The President is a campaigner, not a leader or even speaker.

- I couldn't disagree with Bob Schieffer more. As I listened to Obama's Inaugural, I was amazed at how virtually every line was a loud and clear bell ringer of statements we've waited far too long to hear. My respect for Mr. Schieffer is so strong that his remark caused me to download the transcript to see wherein I was wrong. I began high-lighting; I stopped when I realized I was highlighting almost every line. If I had to choose one, it would be, "we reject the belief that America must choose between caring for the generation that built this country and investing in the generation that will build its future." Clearly Mr. Schieffer and I do not respond to the same music.
