- Guns are dangerous, but not having any guns is more dangerous. The principal seems defensive about it.
When I was in elementary school in Fairfax County, Virginia, my principal kept a gun in his office. He said it was to protect the students, teachers, and staff. He was very popular. - Reply to this comment
- This is crazy. I wonder how you go about firing a superintendent?

- How long before a careless teacher leaves a gun in the wrong place and a child takes it to play with?... or a child threatens a teacher and he panics and shoots the child?... or a child brings a toy gun to school and gets shot by a teacher?... or any one of hundreds of other possibilities.
This suggestion will just bring the American love of guns and the danger into every classroom. If that's the society you want to give your children then go right ahead - and get ready for many more funerals. - Reply to this comment

- Only in Texas... freaking teachers don't want anything to do with guns... if anything the RN white kids will steal the guns and shoot the introverted geeks or Afican Americans in school...

- Arming school teachers??? The suggestion is lunacy. Think about it: If we have to arm ourselves to go to school, to go shopping, to go to the movies, to go to the grocery store, etc., then America fails the fundamental definition of being a civilzation. We should be trying to enact the social practices, laws, and regulations that would create a culture, a society that is truly civil: one where we don't live in so much fear of each other that we feel the need to wear weaponry everywhere we go.

- i think this is a knee jerk reaction. teachers shouldn't be allowed to take deadly force action. this is taking the law into their own hands. i think this is dangerous. i can just see it now, a teacher gets mad at a student or another teacher and whips out their gun and starts shooting. hire a trained security firm to do this

- Texas is still arming to protect itself from invading Communists, same as it was in the early 60's.
You want to live in any modern society, then don't follow TX. - Reply to this comment
- In TX there is also an unelected School Boad that decides what is science, what are morals, etc.
If you want education, you don't want to follow a TX model for anything.......except HS football. - Reply to this comment
