This is the most agenda driven, inaccurate article I have
read regarding the shooting. An assault rifle is not semi automatic. You do not spray bullets with semi automatic weapons. Bob Orr is not reporting the news. Bob Orr is trying to get gun legislation passed. Bob Orr should not be considered a journalist.

It is funny how the gun business wants to convince you that you solve violence by having more guns! You need a semi-automatic weapon to fight someone who has a semi-automatic weapon. It is like having a bigger gun than your neighbor in order to feel safe and while there is a lot of profit made by the gun business.

Trying to control nuts with guns is like trying to eliminate drug abuse, it's a never ending problem. It's almost moot. The problem here to me is more about how he was able to access the children. When children are at school, their safety is a liability of the school, for all circumstances. Bulletproof, reinforced glass would have prevented this guy from entering the school. Better security to protect the most defenseless seems more paramount to me then attempting to score political points and push a Bill through a congressional gridlock. We should fix the problems we can, not try to fix problems we know we can't. If you really want to make guns safer, require that they have an electronic trigger that becomes disabled in locations that it shouldn't be ever used.

That such weapons could find their way into the hands of the dangerously mentally ill, and that they are available to the general public shows that we are a nation of cowards. We are frightened by the knee-jerk bullies in the gun lobby. A co-worker of mine brags about owning "1000 guns", assault weapons among them. Doesn't the probability of losing one to an insance maniac increase the more guns you own? Shouldn't such a person be subject to some additional rules to protect us all?

There was NO rifle found in the school. It was found in the car. Can we get the fact the right? Oh wait, people have their own agenda are going to use whatever lie neccessary to complete their "mision". Fools.

SeeBS should really get thier facts straight before reporting. This tragedy is bad enough without using misinformation to push thier own agenda, gun control.

The rifle used is NOT defined by Connecticut law as an assault rifle or a semi-assault rifle. Most manufacturers now refer to them as sport tactical rifles. Unfortunately, the CT law does not limit the magazine size to 10, so clips up to 30 rounds can be used (not "hundred round clips" as reported on CBS news yesterday. The rifle used actually is very close to what was still allowed under the expired US assault weapons ban.

To counter what one other post said, the .223 caliber round IS the same as a NATO 5.56 mm, it is a leathal round and what is used in M16, AR15 and other derived models. The bullet is shaped differently, the cartridge is packed with more powder, and has a higher muzzle velocity than a .22 caliber.

I, like many other service members, spent many hours and hundreds if not thousands of rounds firing the M16 from 1972 to 1978. I am not an expert, but I can still take one apart in my sleep.

Most manufacturers now sell these rifles as a .22LR version, which is really adequate for people like me, a sport target shooter (I don't even hunt), and they meet New Yorks tough gun laws.

If you spent as much time campaigning to get God back in schools as you do campaigning against guns and for hussein obama, you wouldn't be having all the problems you are now, but then again you wouldn't have the ratings you do now either, and thats what its all about right.

President Obamas address to the nation was the first time he was sincere in
four years. Most of the time he is working on seperating hard working people
from their money so he can hand it out the entitlement programs and union
thugs, but this time was a first- he was seen in our eyes as a human being
not a tyrant leader hell-bent on changing this country over to socialism!
