- Our lawmakers need to come together and come up with a comprehensive fiscal plan that makes sense for the nation. This means tax benefits for the job creators of this country and cutting some of our wasteful entitlements.

- The Obama administration is under the illusion that the life of the Medicare trust fund can be extended while simultaneously using Medicare money to pay for the ACA. The law changes Medicare payment formulas across the board. Moreover, the ACA will increase Medicare taxes, increasing the Medicare payroll tax to 3.8 percent on high-income earners.

- Scott Pelley ... with all due respect. I believe you really know what is happening in government spending. We have too many politicians who are taking care of themselves first and foremost and will do anything to keep their position(money and benefits)which means spending the taxpayers monies unwisely and unethically to satify the voters who keep them in office. We also have a very "entitled" top government staff starting with the President, and his family, who refuse to be treated in any other way than "royalty"... just look at the White House Budget, the cost and use of Air Force One, and all the entertainment that goes on in the White House and what is spent by and on the President's wife and 2 daughter and Mother-in-law. It is wasteful and shameful. I remember Harry S. Truman a President who was the direct opposite of the majority of presidents before and after him. He drove himself back to Missouri after his term ended without secret service protection! That's just a small example of his humble role as our president. Many of the governments agencies and their staff are simply overkill-- not needed-- and they do not do an efficient job and they are always asking for more money and benefits. We need "real" people in office who have ethics and know how. We need to get rid of the Unions who back up a President's election for all the right reasons not for their selfish reasoning. Mr. Pelley, you know this. Get some interviews from the smart citizens of this country who would know how to reform the ills of this country and get them before the public. Reform begins with each individual in their home. Thank you. Charlott Dwyer, Western MA

- CALLING ALL AWARE CITIZENS!
For your good and the good of the U.S.A. do not forget that under George W. Bush the economy crashed because the Republicans said if you don't tax the rich it will trickle down. Guess what it did not work. The economy crashed. Guess what else? They want to do it again.
Why? Because Republicans get their campaign funding from the rich, - Reply to this comment

- What we need is a major overhaul of Wall Street. Strict regulations of these greedy animals like Mr. Cote. Breakup of most of the major corporations from Banksters to oil barons to the communication industry. Tax the crap out of any of them who take excess pay, outsource jobs or try to cut benefits of workers. Then the fake, failed and fraudulent "free" market can actually exist for the benefit of all.

- Anyone who thinks we don't need an overhaul for health care needs to drive by the new hospital built in my area. Over $9 million in art work. Robotic delivery of medicine and supplies. A car wash in the doctor's parking garage, 3 story high lobby . . when you drive by at night, it looks like the Pellagio in Vegas. I'm an engineer in a large manufacturing facility. Nothing fancy in here anymore, and you know what, the place runs better, because everyone is out doing what they are paid to do. Health care needs to take a look and ask, "do we really need all of this"?

- Fair enough.
But refund every penny we in the working class have paid into it. What we've paid into it would allow us to repay big chunks out of college tuition, cars, homes, and other "stuff"... - Reply to this comment
- All these CEO's who's pay has gone up 700% over the last 3 decades while the American workers pay has flatlined or declined. Combined with offshoring and tax havens for the Rich and it's no wonder the middle class economic boost and tax revenues are so low. THAT'S the problem.
Instead of US Corps making a fair profit and paying the workers a living wage, which would have energized the economy by allowing middle class growth, education and spending, they decided it was better to favor the shareholders.
The shareholders are the ones that are making all the money. Trillions hidden in overseas tax havens. US Corps sitting on Trillions of dollars in the bank. US Corps have gotten themselves to the point where they don't even need to hire Americans anymore to make a profit.
On top of decades of their manipulations and BS, when the results of their actions begin to screw the Nation and the system over, what do they say the solution is?
Typical. Screw over the poor and the middle class. Again.
We should strip them of their wealth and ship them to @#$@ing China.
Let's see how well they do over there. - Reply to this comment
- This bloviated bag of hot air earned over $28 Million in 2008. He is taxed at a very low rate, yet wants to cut benefits for the middle class. It makes me sad that these wind bags want to cut benefits for everyone but themselves.
