- President Obama did not say the attack on the Consulate was an act of terror. In paragraph 3 he said the US condemns this outrageous [not terror] attack. In paragraph 4 he talks about denigrating religious beliefs and says, but there is no justification for this type of violence. He is clearly linking the attack to the video. Only much later in paragraph 10 he refers generally to acts of terror.
If the President said the attack was an act of terror, no one reported that. All of the reporting was that the attack was attributed to the video. Read The Caucus by Peter Baker and Sarah Wheaton in the Times on Sept. 12.
When the President said the US condemns, "this outrageous and shocking attack" and will "bring to justice the killers who attacked our people" and goes on to say, "we reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others but there is no justification to this type of senseless violence" he is referring to reaction to the video, not terrorism. A spontaneous violent reaction to a video is an outrageous, senseless type of violence. An act of terror is very purposeful. - Reply to this comment

- The article quotes Obama saying, "No act of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation,"
Checking the CBS video reveals that Obama said, "No acts of terror" not "No act of terror." The difference of course is between plural and singular, and the plural use of "acts" indicates that Obama was speaking generally of terror, not specifically of Benghazi.
The report also overlooks the vast number of people in the administration and vast number of times they tried to focus attention on the anti-Islamic video as the cause of Stevens's death.
I don't understand why CBS would publish such an unbalanced representation of what happened. - Reply to this comment
- "You're right that this is not a situation that was exactly the same as what happened in Egypt," Obama said, referring to protests sparked by an anti-Islam film. "And my suspicion is that there are folks involved in this who were looking to target Americans from the start."
Why wasn't there this much screaming against W Bush when 3000 innocent people died? The Bush administration had months of intel just sitting on their desks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why????
Ummmmm....makes one wonder what the difference between Bush and Obama could be that would allow simple American to defame and blame Obama and let Bush off the hook. - Reply to this comment

- American voters should give importance to the statements of Libyan president and UN representative, Rice. President Magarief of Libya has confirmed that deadly attack on US Consulate was 'pre-planned act of terrorism,' not reaction over film. Islamist protesters stormed the U.S. Embassy in Egypt's capital Tuesday, destroyed the American flag, and replaced it with a black Islamist flag similar to the one used byAl-Qaeda — all on the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In Cairo, mobs of angry protesters invaded the U.S. Embassy compound, and at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, attackers killed four Americans, including the ambassador. The Cairo mob lowered U.S. flags and hoisted a black Islamic flag instead. How did the U.S. embassy respond? By apologizing to the rioters for hurting "their religious feelings":The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims." And again, it was only after the speech of Obama at the UN,"The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam" that Nakola, the film maker was arrested. So, on the 11th anniversary of 9/11, rioting Egyptians stormed the American embassy, destroyed American flag, and hoisted the Islamist flag — and Obama administration's U.S. embassy apologizes for hurting their feelings? If this shocks you, you are not alone. Many Americans expressed their outrage on Twitter and other social mediums

- From one of Salt Lake City's newspapers, as they commented on the Olympics hero Mittens
"In short, this is the Mitt Romney we knew, or thought we knew, as one of us.
Sadly, it is not the only Romney, as his campaign for the White House has made abundantly clear, first in his servile courtship of the tea party in order to win the nomination, and now as the party's shape-shifting nominee. From his embrace of the party's radical right wing, to subsequent portrayals of himself as a moderate champion of the middle class, Romney has raised the most frequently asked question of the campaign: "Who is this guy, really, and what in the world does he truly believe?"
The evidence suggests no clear answer, or at least one that would survive Romney's next speech or sound bite. Politicians routinely tailor their words to suit an audience. Romney, though, is shameless, lavishing vastly diverse audiences with words, any words, they would trade their votes to hear." - Reply to this comment
- CBS has a real fetish for this story renaming it and releasing it as a new story over and over again! It's really the same old story they have been running since the debate. Come on CBS give us some fresh news!

- By the way, what is it that the GOPPER freaks here think is being covered-up? You think the administration was in on assassinating the ambassador? Maybe he was going to reveal that the President was actually born in Kenya? What exactly is happening? It seems that at worst there was a foul-up in indicating what the heck is going on. First the GOPPER freaks want to pin the blame on Obama for the lack of security at Benghazi. Now the implication is that something more sinister is being covered up. So what is that?
