- I believe in the right to own a gun however it's gotten completely out of control. Anyone, anywhere, anytime can buy any gun they want to. The only limitation is having the cash. it's as easy as buying milk at the convenience store. So all of the drug cartels, criminals, killers and psychos all have a very easy time arming up thanks to the NRA and the gun lobby. They've created a war zone. And the NRA's hard stance on any gun control will ultimately lead to tighter gun control. We need a good registration and background check. You can see how easy it was for this guy to buy arms in bulk! Depending on the survey the US is in the Top 10 or Top 20 of all countries for the most gun related deaths. So much for the air headed argument that more guns would solve the problem! If we had more easy access to guns, there would be more gun related deaths. Countries with tighter control have far fewer gun related deaths.

- Sickest part is the purchases were all legal...Especially for someone whom had no priors aside from a traffic violation or two, such as Holmes...

- I think the gun control argument has merit, especially concerning automatic weapons. But the other important issue involves the difficulty our laws pose against getting an insane person committed to a mental facility against their will.
In the old days psychotic individuals used to be incarcerated in state hospitals for the insane and then with the advent of major tranquilizers like Thorazine they were allowed out in society IF they took their medicine. In more recent years bleeding hearts have felt it too cruel to require these people to take the nasty medicines and, along with civil liberty types/lawyers, enabled them to 1. not have to take meds, 2. mingle in society freely, and 3. Made it much more difficult to commit them after they had done something outrageous.

- I routinely buy large quantities of ammunition over the internet, as do millions of other people. The problem is not availability, it is misuse by criminals and mentally deranged people. There is no way to read someone's mind...
There is a lot more destructive force in a five gallon can of gasoline easily purchased at a gas station, or a five gallon propane cylinder...it doesn't take long to figure out how to use those things to kill and maim dozens or hundreds of people.
As for people with concealed carry...they have stopped such murderers, even in Colorado, with no collateral damage. And yes, you can take someone down even when they have body armor...for crying out loud, are you sheep? You tell me if you had been in that theater you would not have wanted a gun and at least go down fighting. It's better than kung fu. - Reply to this comment
- todaymessage: even on TV, the police are trained to yell "drop your weapons". Just shoot the one who doesn't. non-issue

- The Smith and Wesson 100 round magazine has been banned in some States and is no longer made. Let's hope the cursed thing jammed and saved some lives.

- Why the heck does a person need this much ammo and guns. We have to tighten up the rules for being able to buy a gun...as for ammo, these companies don't care what the ammo was used for, they just want to make money. I think these are probably some of the same people to sell to the Mexican cartels. The time has come for this country to seriously curtail the sale of guns that if a person used a certain type of gun, it wouldn't be to hunt food to eat as it would blow a deer apart...The NRA are already busy working on this subject matter to push for the right of even a crazy person to own a gun. Don't bother replying to my comment, I don't care what you think. I know to many crazy people that said they would kill anyone who tried to take their guns...not gun but guns....Unless you are starting your own Army, you don't need all these guns.
