- These problems are the result of the Democrat demogoguery and the Progressive "philosophy" that has permeated Chicago for the past 60 years. Political correctness, misplaced priorities, distractions and distortions, are the tools that have kept the Democrats in place. Nothing is any different today, than it's been for my entire lifetime in Chicago, except for the exponential growth of corrupt politics and the enforced "victimization" by those politicians of the black underclass, who are manipulated by the Democrats as their means of staying in power. It is appalling. The left-leaning Chicago news media is the propaganda tool, and the left-leaning educational system is their indoctrination machine. Values have been destroyed in the name of political expediency and corruption. Sixty years and more, of Democrat corruption, destruction, and moral equivalency, has destroyed this once great city. The fools who keep re-electing these destroyers are the root cause and enablers. Shame on you all.

- Lerianis6 -- Your 'indestructible metal' (adamantium) occurs only in fiction, and so does your assertion. Progressives have controlled the national government since 2007. The recession, the national debt and the monstrous annual deficit belong to them and them alone.
Republicans have not been able to throw any obstacles in the Progs 'redistribute the wealth' offensive, much as they might have liked to. Control of the House alone does not give them the big guns, nor the ammunition to stop any mindless notions the Libs come up with. - Chicago is a Democrat city- has been for 75 years. Drug gangs, prohibition gangs, mobsters, etc., have controlled the politicians forever. The Univ of Illinois said that Chicago is the most politically corrupt city in the nation. Obama is the top pol!!! There is only one solution to stop the violence in Chicago. Arm the people with guns and let them clean out their neighborhoods. Stand your ground; protect your children. Squash the Democrat Drug Gangs. If the national guard is brought in, or NATO!, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will scream bloody murder when the killers are shot and removed from society. It is critical that the Black people of Chicago take their neighborhoods back; they may have to remove their Democrat alderman first, then Jesse Jackson, ... but they can protect their children.

- The Gang problem and their "war" is going to become an excuse for the liberals to call for an outright ban on guns. The sad thing is, is the fact that when you ban guns the only people that will have guns are the criminals and the gang bangers.

- I live in the greater Chicago-area. Since the new mayor took office and hired a new police chief, he's disbanded effective community policing tactics. Since these two have become part of the city's fabric, the gang-related crime rate has skyrocketed. What Mr. Pelley failed to also report on is the growing number of gang mobs attacking people in the major downtown shopping area, around Wrigley Field, etc. No one is safe anymore and the city and our system is stymied as to what to do. Declare these thugs as urban terrorists, bring in the military and have an all-out war. The cops are out numbered and out gunned. Time to stop being wusses and never mind about the criminals having rights and giving them due process. They're uncivilized barbarians and the streets need to be rid of this filth and debris, permanently.

The next problem is the black female who keeps having illegitimate children out of wedlock, with no support, no money, no family, no education. What kind of life will that kid live?

A good one if we have the proper things in place to help his/her parent get a good job, which bluntly 95% of jobs NEED NO EDUCATION in the real world today.

- if there are precincts with lower crime rates why not shift those officers to the 8 precincts where the killing is taking place? or hire more officers for the 8 killing precincts. on the surface, it seems like a no brainer.
