As a Navy veteran, these honorable African Americans faithfully served and paved the way for us to serve decades later. Request permission to give you a Semper Fi, sirs!

Having served 16 years in the Marine Corps, I found that people are good and bad and it has nothing to do with the ancestry. I am glad these gentlemen were breaking path for future harmony in the services.

Glad to hear that good men who served their country are receiving proper recognition. Thank you, sirs, for your service to our country! I need some clarification on this article. Paragraph 2 says "hundreds of surviving members attended". Since these members served 70 years ago, it's hard to believe that "hundreds" of Mumford Marines are still alive from the 1940's. Paragraph 13 makes more sense: less than 300 are still alive. I wish this had happened decades ago so that more could enjoy the recognition. Reporters: let's stick to getting the facts straight.

I am about to go nuts!! What is this thing about trying to make me feel bad about what others did about slavery 100 years ago. I didn't have a damn thing to do about it so stop the stories alright, jeez.
