would be nice to see CBS follow up on this over the next 5 or 6 years and report regularly to see if anyone, anywhere is really doing something with this information to help mankind. We all know there is no money in a cure, an immense industry would collapse and gadzillions of dollars earned though meds and treatment would be lost not to mention jobs and innumerable other consequences......would love to be proven wrong!

It's a shame that so many underachievers can't rest until the spew raw sewage into the pristine pond of rational objectivity. In 2011 Shella won the National Aviation Hall Fame's A. Scott Crossfield Aerospace Education Teacher of the Year Award. This past spring she was honored by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers as the best high school physics teacher in America. In between those two national honors, some of Shella's students participated in the White House Science Fair on account of the accomplishments they achieved by virtue of studying under her. Presidio is in the most remote part of the lower 48; four hours from the nearest Walmart. Besides, she's not the first foreign-born person to make a big splash once granted the freedom to do so. Haven't you ever heard of Albert Einstein or Werner Von Braun? And if you're not up on your history, we essentially kidnapped Von Braun out of Germany to help us get our space program out of the ditch.

Ms. Shella Condino showed the world not just the importance of education but having the heart in everything that she does. She really deserve to be on top of the pedestal after all the hardships she'd been through. Its very disappointing to read such comments regarding her status as immigrant. People make judgements easily which is a human nature but NOT using commonsense is a human error. People, if u can comment nasty assumptions definitely you CAN actually READ. There is nothing figuratively stated in this article to think of any malicious things and DISCRIMINATE people. Now i know the power of discrimination/racism that corrupts every mind. It is not the question of abiding the law beacuse it is clearly stated she is LEGALLY working as immigrant but rather the close mindedness of people out of intimidations. You, as a LEGAL CITIZEN/RESIDENT of your OWN country, did you already ask yourself what great contribution did You do? Stop crab mentally... Let those personalities be on their pedestal for they deserve it. They just reaped what they sow. Dont look at their status in life but rather LET their works be an example and be an inspiration.

the public school system of presidio is very fortunate to have her as a teacher. with her passion for education and her motivating personality i'm sure the children of third world countries like philippines would benefit from her as a teacher even more so than usa

She has to prove to American immigration officials that she is a person of "exceptional ability." Being awarded Aerospace Teacher of the Year makes her what? Below average?

When I consider the HUGE problem of illegal immigrants in this country, and this woman came here legally and accepted a job in a place nobody else wanted to go, and has made (and is continuing to make) such a difference in these kids' lives.....

No wonder this country has so many problems.

Good luck Shella. I have many friends who are Philippine, Vietnamese, Russian, and they all came here to work hard better themselves. They are all wonderful, loving, kind people; and I have never once heard so much as a single word of hate, jealousy, or anger from any of them. I much prefer them to the many hate-filled racists who post these blogs. I agree that maybe we could do an exchange, but I doubt any of their countries would want or accept people like nohater or bobea!
