- If this kid had been armed, he could have shot this Zimmerman and claimed self defense. Not the other way around though. Zimmerman should have listened to the 911 dispatcher. It would have saved him a lot of pain in prison. Now investigate this police force. We all know that, had this teen been white, Zimmerman would already be jailed.

- It certainly does not look good for Mr. Zimmerman. As more evidence piles up the picture I see is a rogue wannabe cop. While I am not YET ready to say this is a racially motivated hate crime the mere fact the killer is a white Hispanic and the victim is a black teen raises all manner of red flags.
The "Stand Yer Ground" law will make it difficult to gain a conviction should it turn out that Georgie Z did commit an unjustified homocide but says nothing about civil suits. I am almost certain there will be at least one or two. Nor does it protect said hair trigger vigilante from any future discriminatory hiring practises when the dust settles and smoke clears.
I can't speak for Florida but in my part of the world, racial relations between Hispanics and Africans or African Americans is significantly worse than between either and European or Middle Eastern whites. - Reply to this comment
- If this teen was white, the investigation would have been over weeks ago. Zimmerman would be locked away. But this is America. Land of intense racism.

- Criticizing the authorities and prosecutors in this case just shows ignorance and a rush to judgement. An unarmed man was shot and no adequate reason has been shown. However, Florida law (as in many states) allows just about anyone to legally obtain a handgun, and the common law rules of justification were intentionally changed to allow a clan of self defense without impeding a duty to retreat even if you could safely do so and avoid a confrontation. The prosecutor has the burden of proving beyond a reasonable doubt that the shooter was not acting in self defense. Doing so without an eyewitness is likely to be very difficult at best. Public outrage is understandable, but where was it when laws are passed that enable this to happen. This victim is not the first and will not be last resulting from these laws. Public petitions and pressure should be directed to the politicians to change the laws. We should wait to see what evidence can be developed before trying to judge the local prosecutor.or the justice Department.

- I keep reading that the father of Zimmerman keeps saying that he can't be a racist because he is Hispanic ... say what? Minority groups can't possibly be racist towards other minority groups??!! That's a laugh. (Go watch the movie Crash is you still are not convinced)
That picture of Trayvon just about breaks my heart every time I see it. There is nothing in that face that looks like a "thug" to me. He looks like a nice young man. Zimmerman keeps talking about how his hand was in his waistband ... I bet his hand was in his pocket (That's where the bag of Skittles were) - Reply to this comment
- As a strong pro 2nd Amendment and citizens protecting their "castles" supporter, flat out this guy went rogue and wanted to be a wannabe Dirty Harry. It's idiots like him that make law abiding and respectful gun owners look like vigilante nutjobs. Yes, he probably "saw a black kid" and freaked out. Racist? I'll listen to that theory. Unqualified? Yep. *******, definately. The family needs to sue, he took the life of someone he has no business engaging, he wanted to be Dog The Bounty Hunter or Rambo or whatever and now he can be a convict!!

- Mr Zimmerman should be careful with this stupid law in effect in Florida. I think any black person who comes across this guy could legitimately claim to be in fear for their life.

- Racism happens. Deal with it. Seriously.....deal with it. Why has it taken this long for any results? Why no arrest yet? What is the pattern for those state prosecutors? They should be investigated, not just the killer.
