- Ya right! Take the worst hit people from cigarettes and maybe something else that they didn't tell you about and then blame it all on cigarettes. These ads are misleading and people are lieing about them. Why can't people just tell the truth about things like this. Don't forget to include all of the other things we do that can kill us. Drinking, texting while driveing, speeding, drugs, obiseity, on and on and on! Stop this blatent harassment of the smokers here in the USA. What gives these people the right to take the worst example and tell everyone that this can happen to you. What a bunch of liars!!!

- If the exhaust from cars and trucks could be seen like cigarette smoke can we would not be worring about the little ammount of smoke comeing from a cigarette. Just because you can't see it don't mean that it is not there! There are more than 1,000 cancer causing toxins in the air that we all breathe in on a daily basis that we cannot see. Why does everyone blame cancer on smoking. Can you look up "Radon Gas"!

- I just saw the ad yesterday evening. It was the ad about throat cancer. Right now my husband has throat cancer, it has been very difficult seeing my husband go through the radiation treatment. He cannot eat or drink right now. He lost his voice. He can only sit up to sleep he cannot lay down. I did get very emotional when I saw the ad. My husband smoked for over 40 years and he is now paying for it big time. Maybe not with his life but with his quality of life. We have insurance but the out of pocket expense is a big burden for us. Smoking will hurt you and may not die but it put you through hell. So I am glad they have these commericals. They should show these in school to the kids. Let them see what smoking does to your body. In the sixties we did not understand the effects of smoking, now if anyone starts smoking they are STUPID. You can't fix stupid. My husband wish now he never started smoking!

- Maybe our Government should put pictures of jets flying and spewing all of thet jet feul exhaust into the air that we all breathe also. Has the whole World went nuts because people smoke. Think about how many things that can kill you according to all of the Government studies that have been done. We all should be dead by now!

- What's next. Showing people laying in a pool of blood from a drunk driver accident. How about showing a person taking a insulin shot on a sugar bag? Get real, don't try and control a buisness advertizeing plans and mind your own buisness!!!!

- This whole thing is bull crap. If the government was really concerned they would make smoking tobacco illegal. But they won't. The real issue is to launch another campaign to justify their raising taxes on cigarettes AGAIN. The last thing they really want is for people to stop smoking. If people stopped, they will just turn to fast food or alchohol or candy (lord knows children of parents who can only afford a candy bar for a special treat need to pay through the nose!) will be taxed instead.
As for the ads. Bull crap again. Let's start running ads showing big obese slobs who ate too much junk food. How much are they costing the government? What is our real epidemic now?! Obesity! - Reply to this comment

- I think instead of displaying graphic pictures to prevent smokers from smoking and force non smokers to see this as well, you should include the car emission charge to cigarette taxes and make it free. Maybe this will make them quit.

- This will not work. I don't care if they do it, but it won't work. I was an OR scrub nurse, and seeing the befores and afters of radical neck surgery patients, for example, did nothing to stop nurses that were smokers from smoking. It's like the drug addict that uses a dirty needle with the knowledge he might get AIDS. It's about the drug.

- wonder why some smoke all their lives and nothing happens to them? is it that they have stronger genes, what? others drink alcohol daily all of their lives and live into their 80s while others fall by wayside in substance abuse clinics or worse. what in a person makes them prone to developing severe reactions to smoking, alcohol, and etc.?
