The stability of the Korean peninsula rests in Kim Jong-un's ability to gain control of the National Defense Commission, the country's supreme ruling body. As warped as it is, the continuation of the line of dictators at leasts preserves the status quo of the armistice. We can only hope that Kim Jong-un isn't usurped by the military through a coup, or at worse, a fabricated crisis which leads to war. I just wrote an article outlining the challenges the younger Kim now faces, you can read more at: http://******/uyGZ8w

Just listen to the way we speak of other countries. This is not an endorsement of N Korea in any way, but for us to say, "We'll LET them have their transition"?! We are not the policemen of the world, and even if we wanted to, we can not afford it.

He will look and appear as though he is in control on TV but in truth the millitary leaders will control the country much like Burma and it's Junta. I see a possible coup in the future if things don't go as planned.

I really wish there was some hope for North Korea but there aren't any glimmers of light coming from that country yet. I think this young heir looks tough, even a little scary. But who knows, maybe it's just the photo. I'm not very optimistic though.

This is a scary situation. I think the military will rule and this kid will be a figurehead only. Another Iraq and I hope we don't send in any troops but I think this military will run roughshod over it's own people. Now it is up to the people of North Korea to take on their government and put them out. It looks like the citiens of North Korea are dying by the thousands from all that I have read. Why would anyone want to starve people? Human kind have really done terrible things to other humans in the name of religion, money, fortune and fame. God help us all.
