- What a story! I know how Tarra, the elephant feels. I just lost a constant companion, Mr Greenjeans an Orange Wing Amazon parrot, a little over a year ago. It's only recently that I could look at a picture of him and not start crying. God does take care of his dumb animals, so I'm sure he takes care of elephants too. Tarra will be a better elephant after coming through this experience. And, she will now be able to help other elephants cope with their grief if something like this happens again...... :) Thank you God.

- The more we examine animal behavior the more "human" they seem. Many animals, including elephants, communicate with each other, sometimes over long distances. It is not their ability to communicate that is in question - it is the limited human ability to understand.

- What is not said in this piece is that the TES board of directors, in a hostile take-over, kicked out Carol Buckley, founder, and Scott Blaise left in disgust. This is why you do not see them again tonight. Carol has since sued the board, but the worst thing is that TES will not let Carol see her elephant of 30+ years, Tarra - the elephant she raised as a baby and for whom she created the sanctuary. TES obfuscates that only elephants can console elephants, as if the public does not have eyes of its own when we see Tarra having waited to console a sick Bella, her interspecies friend of 10 years. The board is being spitful and mean-hearted in order to keep close grips on Tarra, because she is their cash cow. Steve Hartman only does "nice" reporting, but underneath this situation is far from nice.

- Loved the story about Tarra and Bella! It was a bittersweet ending to a beautiful story. But what touched us most...was we were pretty sure that even Scott Pelley may have had a tear in his eye at the end of tonight's show.
