I wonder how many of these Fake News Network watchers who are quitting AARP are going to also drop their "socialist" Medicare coverage?

Short answer: NONE

How is "protesting something that is good for you", considered to be courageous?

What is "shooting yourself in the foot" - heroic?

Shockingly many of these seniors have an opinion that differs from yours and believe the Obama plan is bad for them and are unwilling to support an orginization that supports something that is bad for them.

Sorry, but yellow cake was found and shipped to Canada during the war.

That was the yellow cake that the traitor Reagan gave them in the early 80's, so they could build a nuke, and use it against Iran.

The CEO pd AARP has a base salary of over $600,000.
Seems to me they like to take advantage of seniors.
I quit as soon as I found out how much he was making.

Let me start by saying, I am not with the DNC or the GOP. I am somewhere in between. I do not agree with the health care plan Obama is proposing. It is bad enough the American tax payers have to pay for "border babies" and the medical attention the illegals get in this country. I do not believe supporting another health option for people who have never paid a dime in any tax branch in the United States. I know there are a lot of people with no health insurance, but it is because most of them are not even American citizens. The rest of them are too lazy too work and pay for benefits themselves. If America keeps giving handouts to those who do not strive for a better life, then we are doomed. Why would anyone want to work when Obama is giving free health insurance (ON THE TAX PAYER, THE WORKING MANS DOLLAR)? I think Medicaid is a great thing, so maybe they can boost the tax payers into paying a little more in that area. If you are unable to work, then hey, I am all for helping someone, but I am not giving a free handout to people who have never worked and are capable of working, they are just too lazy to work. I think health care should be sold across state lines, that will open the "competition" Obama wants. Otherwise, this man is taking OUR liberties just so his ancestors can sit on their arse and do nothing. I will NOT support his option under any circumstances. Call me what you will, but I believe our country was built on hard workers and I am not giving it up so the lazy people can get a handout. GET A JOB!!!

wow! had no idea aarp was so huge. they are way bigger than the NRA or other associations. one wonders why they don't have more political muscle with so many members, revenue coming into the aarp treasure chest. 40 million members is greater than Canada's population, greater that CA population. wonder what aarp staff, employees earn in salaries, benefits, perks, and etc.? wondering too what their total revenue is and what they do with it. wonder if they publish their financial statement.

AARP tries to be apolitical and just focus on the effect of proposed legislation on the over 50 age group. If they support it, they must have concluded it was a good thing for that (my) age group.

It seems strange for members to go to a group opposing the public option if they're mad at AARP because of proposed reductions in medicare. Isn't it?

George Bush Sr. proposed giving the elderly a government nursing home benefit in the early 1990's which the AARP fought bitterly. Today, there still isn't a nursing home benefit. It would have helped my father who died in 2000 in a nursing home. Because the AARP opposed government paid nursing home care for the elderly, my wife and I never joined the AARP. We kind of wish we were members so that we could tear-up the membership cards and return them to the AARP.
