Comments on: U.S. Drones Have al Qaeda On the Run
Strikes by CIA Drones to al Qaeda Sanctuaries in Pakistan Are Working
- anything that Clinton did, Bush and Rove worked like crazy to undo, whether it was a good idea to undo it or not. Then a few years later in some cases they were reversing themselves and doing the same things Clinton was doing.
----------------------
That's when things started going wrong.
If they had reversed MORE of Clinton's policies FASTER, 9/11 wouldn't have happened.
Bush inherited a huge disaster from Clinton. Madoff, Enron, Worldcomm, Andersen Accounting, NAFTA and free trade, banking deregulation, all happened on Clinton's watch. 9/11 was already well into the preparations stage, with most of the pilots already finished with their flying lessons. And the overwhelming majority of politicians in WDC had been fully primed for war in Iraq, after Clinton's vigorous campaign of lies about Saddam's alleged WMD, which never actually existed after 1991.
Thousands died from Clinton's WMD lies.
And Clinton's executive order on Pearl Harbor Day 2001, which deprioritized airport security and made airline flight delays the top priority of the FAA, led directly to 9/11.
Yes, Bush inherited a huge mess from Clinton. He was reversing this catastrophe as fast as possible, but the terrorists had already gotten a huge head start during the Clinton years. 9/11 happened while Bush was frantically trying to clean up the multitude of disasters Clinton left behind.
When the liberals all started saying Bush was to blame for 9/11 because it happened on "his watch," Bush gave up and hoped that he could regain his popularity by acting like Clinton.
That's how we got the crisis we have now.
Are you happy now? You are totally correct. It was impossible for Bush to undo Clinton's sabotage fast enough to avoid 9/11. And when Bush changed course and followed Clinton's policies instead of fighting them, it led to disaster. - Reply to this comment
- No doubt at all Obama inherited a plethora of flaming disasters from Bush. The economic four-alarm fire on Wall Street is certainly one created by GOP DEregulatory religion, direct from the GOP high priesthood. It took eight years to fan into an inferno of negligence, criminal fraud and massive overleverage, and it will take at least as many years to put out and stabilize financial structures the GOP damaged.

LOL! So what's your solution? More FREE TRADE? More GLOBALIZATION? More H1b visas and illegal workers to take our jobs out from under our noses?
Well, that's the solution of your MESSIAH, THE ALMIGHTY OBAMA.
Face it, Obama is your enemy and mine.
It is July now. It is now Obama's watch.
Obama is to blame.
It's time to stop blaming Reagan. Obama is the president now.
It's time to start holding Obama accountable for his utter failure.
Just look at this topic - drones. The only things he's doing right are the things that are just a continuation of Bush policies.
Obama keeps making Bush look good. - Reply to this comment

Armed drones failed in 1944. The Allies virtually suspended the program in early 1945.
---------------
I'm STILL wondering - what Allied drones are you referring to???
If the Allies used armed drones in Germany in 1944, this is the first I heard of it.
Please post references to document this claim. - Reply to this comment
- In that same year, Karzai himself, suffered minor injuries when a B52 dropped a bomb near Khandahar, killing three US troops, and seven Afghan troops.
------------------
So, are you so desperate to attack me that you're calling a B-52 bomber a "drone?????" LOL!
Friendly fire and civilian casualties have occurred in all major wars. It is a tragic and unavoidable part of war. The ones to blame are not the ones waging war, it is the ones who launched the initial attack that started the war.
9/11 was the attack that started our war in Afghanistan, which has spread to Pakistan when the terrorist cowards fled and sought refuge there. Much like the way our Vietnam war spread to Laos and Cambodia when the cowardly enemy sought to evade our military by operating there.
So if anyone objects to civilian casualties, blame the terrorists.
If it weren't for them, we wouldn't be there, and disputes over imperfect rules of engagement would be moot. - Reply to this comment
- because these so-called "top Taliban leaders" won't be at the meeting, nor will out top leaders, either. Instead, low-level proxies will meet and work out the details. Only when the treaty is finalized will there be a photo-op session where any top leaders actually show up.

- I think I saw a show about that, oh yeah, it was Sar Trek Enterprise. They fired their phasers on the WTC in an alternate timeline or something. Oh wait, that wasn't WTC it was a big giant time machine.

- It does. However keep in mind that the propaganda target is Al-Queda, not US citizens. If we lie in our propaganda then Al-Queda knows we are lying and it just makes them feel more certain that they are superior than us, and helps their morale. If we tell the truth in our propaganda then Al Queda knows the statement is true and it just demoralizes them more.

- A genius is someone who isn't so stuck on themselves that they ignore the baby when they throw out the bathwater.
Not everything Bush did was bad. Far, far more that he did was bad than was good - but not every last thing was bad.
If Obama came in and ignored everything Bush did, including the few good things, he would be no better than Bush - because this is exactly what Bush did in the beginning of 2001 - basically anything that Clinton did, Bush and Rove worked like crazy to undo, whether it was a good idea to undo it or not. Then a few years later in some cases they were reversing themselves and doing the same things Clinton was doing. - Reply to this comment
- You might argue that in a way the airliners used to blow up the twin towers for 911 were drones.
I doubt Al-Queda would ever be able to field drones. They are too technologically sophisticated. You need a large technological infrastructure behind you to produce a drone. Can you imagine for a second Al-Queda building a computer CPU processor plant? You need one of those to make the chips that go into the drone.
Al-Queda's genius was that they found that if they fielded a low-tech army against a high-tech enemy, if they went for the enemy's soft spots they could make some wins. And the soft spots are things like armed convoys suceptable to roadside bombs, or women wired up with suicide bombs that are sent to walk into a barracks.
When the sophisticated army tried responding, it tried playing the game by Al-queda's rules, which was to send in the troops - a low-tech response to a low-tech attack. That is no way to win because your engaging the enemy where they are the strongest.
Finally you can see now that the high-tech army, ours, has decided to change the rules of the game with the drones. We are now playing war by our rules - the rules of technology, and we are attacking Al-Queda in their weaknesses. And their weaknesss are things like since they have no communications infrastructure, they have to hand-carry every message everywhere. I'd bet that spy sattellite survelliance of the land areas Al-Queda is in was more than enough to establish where all their little hideouts are. And if Al-Queda tries using technology, such as cell phones and suchlike, I'm sure that we have all of that stuff tapped. Since, ultimately, they have to get the cell phones from us, since we make them.
If AlQueda ever tried fielding a drone - perhaps stealing one of ours and trying to target us with it - I'd bet that within a moment our programmers would have accessed encrypted back doors in the drone programming and had it reverse course and blow up the Al-Queda operative who tried launching it.
It's pretty clear that when the US army finally pulled it's head out and started using the younger crowd, instead of all the elderly generals who were still fighting war the way their grandpappys were, that we started winning. - Reply to this comment
- How differently CBS reports the war when Obama is President. What a joke. I guess more than Brian Williams is sharing a bed with him.

- Wow,"on the run" after only 7 years,at this rate,my grandchildren can read about victory in a few decades ,in the newspaper they are using to insulate the cardboard box they will be forced to live in after paying the cost of the endless war against the goat herders.

- ubrew claims 90% civilian casualties in Iraq...
_________________________________________________________
Total BS...estimates or casualties in Iraq range from 750k to a bit over 1 million. Meanwhile IraqiBodyCount estimates 92k CIVILIAN deaths. So that's less than 12%.
Ubrew tends to be hysterical at times, making up figures to suit her intent. The amazing thing about the Iraq theatre was that more than 500,000 bad muzzies were greased at a cost of only 4000 American lives.
I doubt Obama will be able to maintain the same ratio in Afghanistan. - Reply to this comment
- According to FBI Officials, Osama Bin Laden is in Northern Afghanistan. FBI might not be available for questioning about this, for military safety of keeping information from the media and the internet, and thus from the Taliban.

- When encountering the truly wicked, or determined, it is imperative to destroy all resistance until surrender, or total destruction is achieved.
Despite their grand talk, the enemy is fighting an ideological war, and they too have a breaking point. That is why we can and will win. - Reply to this comment
- Well done CIA! Do your best to make sure of your target and then keep firing away until all of these murdering cockroaches are dead. The world has to know that the United States means business after 3,000 of its citizens are murdered by a bunch of terrorists. There must be no rock on this planet under which they can hide from us or enjoy a safe sanctuary. The next group of would-be terrorists is taking notes and is calculating whether they can get away with their plans to do us harm. They must be disabused of that notion completely...or we invite them to come in and murder us and our loved ones like dogs.

- CORRECTION---CIA drones have their own covert phony terror dudes on the run. Wake up folks the Cheney evil terror worst of the worst are in house people. This is not even NAM, this is 100% fake. There is no real enemy, it was necessary to invent one. A small band of Muslim guys did not plan and carry out the latest Pearl Harbor. Never in American history have this many humans been this stupid for this long. You better wake up because it isn't going to get any better. Obama is still playing along with the massive Cheney Bush LIE.

- And it only cost us 1 trillion dollars and over 4 thousand American lives to make them worry. Now that is a real success.

- Very sad.. it is now ok and justified to kill hundreds of poor mudhouses people as they are worth much less than any other "people." The ratio of innocents to bad is alarming 50:1 conservatively according to human watch groups. Under the same pretext, "their" attacks on "you" are and would be just as justified as they destroy their perceived enemy

- If true this is cool. Kudos to Obama and its rare that I say that. If he can wipe these pricks out with newfound intelligence and technology I think that's great. Maybe we can end this thing quick and save a ton of dough!

- It might have been the case, if we elected the bomber pilot, but instead you irresponsibly elected a totally unqualified community organizer to the position of President, so there will be no wiping of anything.....just empty talks, diplomacy-only, appeasement, negotiations, sanctions, and other weak liberal ideas of how enemies are dealt with.
- Osama Bin Laden is already under surveillance by FBI satellites.
I don't know whether they plan to send drones or to arrest him. - Reply to this comment
