Mortgage Rates Also On The Rise, Slowing Needed Spending Just As The Economy Begins To Wake Up
- ...meant.... not the fault of Bush or the Republicans....That horse has been beaten to death already.

- Cyber - yeah, and it was George Bush who told people to lie about getting more mortgage than they could afford, or lie about how much money they made, or his fault that morons went and maxed out their credit cards, living beyond their means and not being wise in their spending habits. If you really believe it was the fault of Bush and the Republicans, I got news for you and that is that historically the Democrats have been in charge of Congress. There's plenty of blame to go on the backs of the Democrats. The problem is first one has to be rational and intelligent enough to realize that not everything was the fault of Bush or Democrats. And, what were the Democrats doing the last two years of the Bush regime when they controlled both Houses? I didn't vote for Bush 43 either time and proudly and intelligently didn't vote for Obama. I'm also intelligent enough to know that many of our problems having been brewing since the 1960s and the let's give everyone everything even though they haven't worked for it or earned it - the mentality of primarily the Democrats. We have too many bottom-feeders that have leached away our Treasury that prefer being government-reliant versus self-reliant.

- Thank god for the "Tarp" money! Now the oil companys don't have to use their own money and risk getting caught manipulating the oil market. The speculators are flush with tax payer money and hard at work! There is no shortage, they just trot out the same old excuses, when they even bother to do that. If we are running out of oil we are damn well going to pay the oil companys top dollar for every last drop! Prince Bandar still does lunch at the white house.

- It's funny that the party that has been in power for the last EIGHT years doesn't want to admit that it was THEIR economic policy that got us in this mess in the first place! Oh, and it also doesn't mean a thing when the prez, his vice prez and his sec of state and his good old Saudi friends are all oil people...nope, not a bit.
FINALLY we have the answers of what the closed-door economic policy was all about in the beginning of his administration....no wonder why it was a meeting with an invitation only behind closed doors. The truth finally comes out and the radical-right won't admit it.
This is NOT Obama's fault, but once AGAIN it takes a democrat to clean up another republican's misdeeds as was the case with Daddy Bush and his administration.
How soon the radical right forgets that is was THEIR policies of less-government that got us into this mess in the first place....and isn't if funny that after this economic mess and food scares....they still stand behind their failed less government policy? - Reply to this comment
- prolonged recession heading rapidly towards depression?
Posted by Zboes
This is not Obamas recession/depression, this has been coming for a good 30 yrs. If you want to blame anyone for it, blame the presidents over the last 30 yrs who did nothing to stop it and everything to enhance it. Obama just happened to come into office as it got bad, it would no better under McCain, possibly worse. - Reply to this comment

Anyone with a brain knew Bush had no control over the prices, even though he and his goons did make a healthy profit and did not try to do much to bring them down. OPEC and the speculators ran our gas prices through the roof. - Reply to this comment

The speculators. The same ones driving the prices up. - Reply to this comment
- Or give everyone a new hybrid car (not SUV) and just jack up the rates on fixing them. That way, everyone has a less oil/gas dependency and the car maker(s) can benefit from fixing them. Perhaps making it ONLY available to be fixed at a dealership after receiving it for 2 years. I think the government needs to completely start from scratch after what Bush got us into. He doesnt seem to really care about what he did....or didnt do.

Don't these gas companies have any sympathy for the average, struggling American in a tough economy?!
I think we all know the answer to that one. - Reply to this comment

- They are predicting $3/gal before the july 4th weekend. Possibly back up to $4/gal before the end of summer. And they expect us to spend on non-essential items as well. People with jobs do not know how much longer they will have them. People without jobs are not having any luck finding new ones. Wall Street/ White House have really lost it if they think people can afford this crap.

It's bad enough when these gas prices go up when the economy is flourishing. But they have to raise prices when most of us are struggling-that's the ultimate kick in the teeth!
We should have mass protests throughout the free world over this, because our governments aren't doing enough, if anything.
If mass protests do occur, I wonder what these companies will give for a reason for lowering the prices.
Hey, if we all come together, we'll get somewhere!
