Congress Awards Billions For Pumping Sand, Despite Evidence It Doesn't Work
- Think about it. For the money they spent protecting the beach front property for the rich people with beach houses, they could have spent on the levees in New Orleans and saved many lives and homes.

- Look outside the box on this. Every dollar that is spent on beaches might be a dollar spent on a American job instead of gifting the taxpayer dollar to countries and wars overseas. Even if some of the money is spent to buy the sand outside the US, much of the money will go for Americans. You can't say that for most other programs.

The same could be said if they had invested this money into the levee systems around the country that are in danger of failing. Then not only would it help put people to work, it would help protect them as well. - Reply to this comment

- Beach building DOES NOT WORK.
A congressman, or a buddy of, or some other high ranking official government must have some oceanfront property...... and they are flushing OUR money out to sea...!!!
If they want to waste money doing this, it should be their money--- not the taxpayer's..!! - Reply to this comment
- Every once in a while Sen Coburn actually makes sense. This time he nailed it. This is a natural cycle. Why are we spending billions of dollars to try and stop nature? The idiots in the beach houses should have thought of that before they bought/built those houses.
