Did we put our soldiers through 4+ tours in WWII?
"The cost of defending ourselves"? Iraq never attacked us, Al Qaeda did, and Al Qaeda was not involved with Iraq until AFTER we attacked Iraq.
Your argument bears no weight. - Reply to this comment

You are an ignorant troll.....I cannot claim that someone is something that they are not!
But what I did prove is that you are sitting somewhere in your little bitty trailer, in your little bitty living room, with your little bitty 'puter, spewing rotgut from your little bitty mind. And we have all come to recognize you for what you are!
Just sayin'....

I hate this whole mess bush criminally got us into, but you are 1000 percent correct. They should come home now to a heroes welcome ! No one else needs to die for whatever reason they are still there. - Reply to this comment

- @bagdadshere-Did you read the article, and do you have any compassion for the families of the soldier reading this? This is NOT political-once again, a soldier died. Nothing to do with Bush or Obama, really-REALLY.

Great advice. It is awesome to see the grateful looks in a soldier's eyes when you do thank them. And let us not stop there, we need to make sure that our military are being taken care of properly. - Reply to this comment
- Once again, stop making this political-I will repeat-Everyone in the US-do our country a favor-the next time you see people in fatigues in the airport, (whatever branch of the service they are in) -RUN up to them, and shake their hand, sincerely thank them, because THEY are the reason you ive in freedom. - Another victim of the former-Great Emperor George W. Bush II's "adventure" in Iraq!!!
So while this 20 year veteran snaps under the pressure of too many tours and too many wars, the former-Great Emperor Bush II hides under his bed in his million dollar home in Dallas expecting a congressional subpeona, while ex-VP Darth Vader Cheney rides the range in Wyominig babbling to his horse about being vigilant for "terrrrorrists" hiding behind every bush and under every rock!
Its always the "little people" who end up being the victims!!!

- The United States loves war. It's always been good for the arms producers to be able to supply our military wirh bullets, bombs, rockets, grenades, cannon fire, small arms and ammo. Every new generation has a new war to attend to so that we can keep these arms dealers in business. Who gives a damn if the young men get killed or maimed for life with physical or mental wounds? The excuse for going to war was to eliminate weapons of mass destruction. We have more weapons of mass destruction than any other country on this planet. Our wounded come back home to a country that doesn't care. Veterans medical benefits and hospitals are in sad need of repair and upgrade. We have the satisfaction of knowing we're helping people who want us to leave their country because they hate us. Gee, I wonder why.

- It is counterintuitive, but part of military counselling should be to remind G.I.s that the military is a TEMPORARY situation, even if it lasts two decades or more.
"If career guys are snapping, you know shorter term soldiers are losing it as well. "
An active-duty E-5 at 20 years is typically an indifferent performer with a stagnant career (I'm being polite!). They let people serve that long because some folks rise to a very basic level, are useful, but for whatever reason don't do well enough to move up.
Career guys are often so identified with military life they cannot let go easily. After all, the military is very much like a family. The Sergeant felt his career was at risk and wigged out. He should have sought treatment, possibly retired, and he could be collecting his earned retirement plus disability. You don't have to stay forever and die in harness like a mule in a coal mine!
To any soldiers/sailors/airmen/coasties reading this:
There IS life after the military. Use your time in to prepare for the civilian future you (usually) richly earn. Also, LEARN about interacting with the VA, because retirement is DIFFERENT from what you will be used to. - Reply to this comment
- I agree gravyboat...
This is so tragic. It's been said 'War is hell"... well, I imagine fighting one where soldiers are sent back and back and back without the "break" they need and without the proper tools -- not to mention, a war without honorable justification must be somewhere on the seventh circle of that awful state of mind.
I pray for this man, his family and the families of those who were killed. - Reply to this comment
