Comments on: Murtha's Defense Earmarks Draw Questions

- What is the difference in Murtha and "Duke" Cunningham? When will the news media start to treat all parties alike? I think this is why so many no longer trust what the media says. CBS could get it's creditability back if it would start playing fair and reporting on both parties with equal treatment. I will continue to see if they ever decide to do so.

- The people of my district--I am one of John Murtha's "constituents"--have no shame. They don't care that Murtha is a criminal, the worst representation of sleaze that Washington has to offer, a coward, a traitor to his uniform and to the flag of the United States. What they care about is the MONEY he brings in, no matter how ill-gotten it may be or how much a part of the problem it actually is. I say "they" because I have been fighting the Murtha corruption train since I moved to this area, and I will continue to do so until this absolute scoundrel is brought before the courts--either the federal one he should be facing trial in, or the court of public opinion which is absolutely (FINALLY) turning against him and his ilk.

- Murtha should have been thrown out of office for his Abscam involvement. The FBI videotaped Murtha responding to an offer of $50,000, with Murtha saying, "I'm not interested... at this point. [If] we do business for a while, maybe I'll be interested.

- I have nothing against earmarks that are for good projects. However, since President Obama is going to be cutting out the excess expenses and cutting what can be cut, I don't think Murtha is going to get what he wants this time. The budget is getting a trim and that will mean everything will be thoroughly reviewed.

You really believe Obama is going to be cutting excess? Good for you. - Reply to this comment
- JOBS! JOBS! JOBS! These projects create Jobs! Murtha has created tens of thousands of jobs and these people appreciate that and vote for him! If he is not there, the money (and jobs) is just going to go somewhere else, and you will not get back one penny. Murtha Rocks!

$100,000,000 is .003% of 3,550,000,000,000.
If you made $50,000 per year, .003% is a buck and a half, (or $1.50); It won't even be missed. And then it will be added back in with earmarks later. - Reply to this comment

And yet no answer from the voters in MURTHA's district. Do you all understand . Being corrupt is always someone elses congressman not mine . this is our problemm. We have a corrupt adminiunstration on Washington and when confronted the answer is ALWAYS . Not my person {OBAMA<PELOSI>GEITNER<REID< }} The fault is bush and his govt . so we can be as corrupt as we want to be since you fools voted for US >>
Please, what ANSWERs are you looking for at his district????? I am from Johnstown. - Reply to this comment
- I am actually from Rep. Murtha's district. I no longer live there, but many of my family and friends still do. This is troubling to say the least. Murtha helped me during a very very terrible military medical experience. He and his staff represented me when I was unable to represent myself from a medical struggle which continued for 18 months, and needed very very specialized care outside of a military facility.
My military leadership I was under at the time, questioned my condition, and everything about my status all the while I was racking up medical bills & related expenses over $200,000.
" incompetent!" stated Mr. Murtha, and my leadership was held accountable for thier lack of regard for 'one of his own.'
But, this even raises my eyebrows....
I've questioned the Cambria County Airport, the National Guard Hangar, and the other 'pork festivals' Johnstown's been receiving.
Don't hate the people for what Murtha has done, or not done. His statements earllier about racist folks in that area-is true. Just as it is in your community but no one is BOLD enough to say it.
I dunno....this is troubling.
But I will say, since the 1980's it is commonly said in Johnstown, "If it weren't for Murtha, this town would be dead."
It will be after this investigation.
...and the people of Johnstown.....caught in the middle of this. - Reply to this comment
- Rep. John Murtha personifies exactly what is wrong in Washington and why the status quo will not be breached, he is one of the "good ole boys" club.
Murtha along with many other old timers of both parties should be voted out of office.
Also, we should vote for term limits.
There are simply too many of these creeps in Washington who do not do what is good for the country but only that which is good for them and their office.
Power and money is the goal of Murtha and the other corrupted officials whose loyalty is only to themselves, their cronies, and their families..
Vote them out of office. Vote for term limits. - Reply to this comment
- I agree with the many of you who noted that the label "DEMOCRAT" was completely left out of the article. The same was true of the first reports about Jefferson (?) in Louisianna, and about Spitzer when all of that went down. The "Republican" label was not left off of Foley or any other Republican that comes under suspicion. Check the archives.
This is subtle but VERY serious. If good folks weren't pointing it out, I doubt many of you would notice. Well done, folks. - Reply to this comment
