CBS Evening News: Even The Solidly Middle Class Turning To Welfare After Losing Jobs
- You know why they have to turn to welfare? Because no one saved their money for a rainy day. And as Friar Tuck said in Robin Hood, "It's raining now!" Save, don't spend, and you can weather tough economic times.

Most people THOUGHT they were saving money in the home they owned... they thought the value of that home would provide a cushion they could rely on. They didn't know that the Party of De-Regulation had released the Greed and Corruption of Corporate America on the lending business... why should they think that? - Reply to this comment
- We don't have those explosions here, because about 100 years ago we passed laws that require mines to have safety practices that prevent those explosions.

American companies have a long and storied history of turning their backs on their employees.
If they could legally get away with it, the death toll for miners in America would be in the thousands every year. - Reply to this comment
- Bottom line - Clinton started it by "referring" to WMD. I can post his speech where her "referred' to WMD when he launched an air attack on Iraq, which everybody seems to have forgotten.
Posted by weedapeapl at 6:19 AM : Apr 18, 2009
What was Clinton's next move after claiming that Saddam Hussein had WMD's?
He sent in INSPECTORS to find proof. They found NOTHING. Conclusion? Iraq didn't have WMD's.
The WMD's never existed, and Bush knew it, but he used it as an excuse to invade anyway.
He was going to attack Iraq in response to 9/11 too. He was looking for ANY reason to invade Iraq, and when he couldn't find a reason, he had the CIA fabricate a reason.
But how ironic that you have to point to the biggest foreign policy disaster of all time, to distract from the biggest financial disaster of all time. And BOTH were created by conservative republicans. - Reply to this comment
- Bernie Madoff didn't cause the subprime mortgage meltdown, or the outrageous risk taking by the banks, insurance companies, and investment houses.

So you're giving Madoff a free pass for the biggest financial fraud in history, which JUST HAPPENED to have gone on for Clinton's entire 8 years, and then when he finally got reported to the SEC Clinton IGNORED HIM and gave him another 8 years????
You just can't face the FACT that Clinton DROPPED THE BALL on Madoff. And then Madoff make large contributions to Hillary's failed campaign.
LOL! Always in denial, aren't you. - Reply to this comment
- You are a freaking joke. First off sub-prime loans have beeen outlawed and no bank or mortgage company could give one if they wanted. And quit making up lies to try to bolster you position. I could say my neighbor does alot of things to but you have no proof. That is what they call in law HEARSAY. No proof it happened.

Sub Prime Loans was just one of so many problems created by De-Regulation of these CEO's. We'd better get it straight in our minds that we were lied to about this whole think, CEO's and Corporations CAN NOT regulate themselves and they will NOT do what is best of our nation. Digging our way out of this mess is only part of the solution. We MUST put BACK strong Regulations and make sure no future Generation is sucked in by the Neocon swan song of "getting the government off the back of Corporations". We NEED Government on their backs and in a BIG Way! - Reply to this comment

Yes, Madoff got busted on Bush's watch, after running loose on Clinton's watch.
Same as Enron, Worldcomm, Andersen Accounting, and all the other rampant accounting fraud that was going on during the Clinton years and got busted in the Bush years.
Then some libtard will say "Remember Kenny Boy was good buddies with Boosh." As if that changes the fact that KENNY BOY GOT BUSTED ON BUSH'S WATCH AFTER RUNNING LOOSE ON CLINTON'S WATCH.
You can't change the past. - Reply to this comment

No! 100 years ago the Workers in the United States formed UNIONS and said OUTRIGHT they would NOT work under those conditions, the laws came much later to cover those who did NOT have a Union... the SAME Unions we allow the Neocons to trash over the last 3 decades. - Reply to this comment

- I believe Clinton did refer to WMD's. . I don't think Bushs' war in Iraq was because Clinton buffaloed Congress into believing WMD's existed. .

Bottom line - Clinton started it by "referring" to WMD. I can post his speech where her "referred' to WMD when he launched an air attack on Iraq, which everybody seems to have forgotten.
After Clinton started the WMD lie, it was adopted by the vast majority of politicians in WDC. Everybody wanted to jump on the Clinton bandwagon, espcially some lady named Hillary Clinton.
In 2002, Hillary repeated Bill Clinton's 1998 WMD lie speech almost word for word. But you expect me to believe Rumsfeld convinced her?????
Hillary is the one who said she suspected Saddam was developing nuclear capability. I can post that speech, too, if you want. She also tied her vote for war in Iraq to the 9/11 attack in the same speech.
Yes, after being bombarded with Bush bashing for 8 years, our memories do tend to get clouded. So I'm here to set the record straight. - Reply to this comment
- You mean, like the way the SEC FAILED TO ENFORCE the law against the staunch Democrat Madoff when he was reported for his Ponzi scheme in 2000, on Clinton's watch?
Then Madoff made large campaign contributions to Hillary Clinton's campaign.
Yes you're right. It's destroying our economy to let Madoff run loose like that in exchange for contributions for a failed campaign.

Also, Asian companies don't have to follow OSHA, EPA, EEOC, and all the other protection laws we have in the USA.
Many Asian workers die on the job, far more than USA companies.
Just as Hillary Clinton was leaving China after begging for money and 'forgetting" to talk about human rights, 70 Chinese coal miners died in a coal mine explosion.
We don't have those explosions here, because about 100 years ago we passed laws that require mines to have safety practices that prevent those explosions.

- Wow talk aboutt re-writing history. You are simple minded aren't you. Clinton had inspectors in Iraq to make sure sadaam did not make and more WMD's like in the early 90's those inspectors had been there since the end of the war on Bush 41's watch as part of the surrender agreement with Sadaam..
Clinton did not attack Iraq. He made one airstrike and sadaam let the inspectors back in.
As far as congress goes they were lied to and manipulated by falsified documants that the bush administration presented to not only them but the UN. Had congress or the UN had the correct intelligence presented to them they would have never voted to invade Iraq.
Try getting your history straight.

You're wasting your time.
He's a Bush apologist, trying to blame everything on Clinton or Obama, all while pretending that Bush was NEVER the president.
That in itself is the single biggest condemnation of the failed presidency, than any facts could ever offer up - when even his own supporters deny the existence of his entire presidency!!!! - Reply to this comment
- Sorry, wrong again.
When did banking deregulation happen? Clinton signed it into law after it passed with overwhelming bipartisan support in both houses of Congress - only 8 senators voted against the final version.
When did staunch Democrat Madoff get turned in to the SEC for the biggest financial fraud in history? In 2000, on Clinton's watch.

Guess what, Bush isn't president anymore. Obama is.
It's time to stop blaming Bush and start holding Obama accountable.
The economy went down this time of year in Bush's first year, only three months after he took office. People are still blaming Bush for that.
They say Bush ended the Clinton prosperity. It happened in March/April 2001. And people blame Bush for it.
So now it's Obama's turn to take the blame.
TIME'S UP for blaming everything on Bush. It's time for Obama to start shouldering the blame. - Reply to this comment
