based on what? i am success today because i learned from my mistakes in life....libs are still failures because instead of trying to learn from their mistakes, they look to others to blame

Our veterans deserve as much attention when they come back as they do when the Neocons send them into battle.
Posted by marcodele at 7:02 PM : Apr 9, 2009

You need to check your history again, you are like all Liberturds you shoot off your mouth with no facts
World War Two--- FDR Dumbocrat
Korean War --- Truman Dumbocrat
Vietnam War--- JFK & Johnson ---Dumbocrats
I guess you forgot these little skirmishes:
WW2 over 350,000 casualties
Korean over 30,000 casualties
Vietnam over 50,000 casualties
I guess you Idiots would like to forget these figures compared to 4,000+.

I agree that Veterans deserve the best, but don't try to blame Republicans for all the problems.

And to think, none of this had to happen and it was all started on a pack of lies.

By the time it's over, if it ever is, we will wasted 3 trillion dollars and destroyed tens of thousands of lives.

Nice job Bushies!

Without the facts it's just a bad news day.

Let us pray for these brave young men and women who have served and are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. We are all Americans, let us unite in prayer for our fellow Americans. The mind is strong but the will of God is stronger, pray America.

The same thing that kept the war going in Viet Nam is what is keeping the war going in Iraq and Afganistan, the liberal news media, the liberal polititions, and the protesters who encourage division among the American people and encourage the enemy we fight against. A truly united nation cannot be defeated, one that is divided can, war being prolonged by that division is what is causing our warriors to lose heart and take their own lives.
OBL has said many times to his people, "remember Viet Nam," he knows that if the American people can be divided and kept in that state of division that he can and will prevail.
To many people in this country have forgotten who attacked who on 9-11-01, so how do you justify this is not a just war? the terrorists believe this is a holy war, how do they justify that? The koran says that allah isn't a holy god so how do they get a holy war out of that?
The truth is, we are in a fight for our existence, and the sooner the American people are given the truth about that and get on board to win this fight, the sooner this fight will be over and I can gaurentee the suicides will stop. Those whinners who call themselves Americans and through their whinning support OBL and his murderers by keeping the division going in this country, are in fact helping those suicides in our military to continue.
The war in Viet Nam was won in 1968, the protestors are the ones who revived it and kept it going, General Giap wrote in his memoirs that very fact, he said "we were defeated, but I looked at the protests in the United States, looked at how their media and polititions were treating the returning soldiers, and I knew if we could keep on we would win".
So, all you liberals in the media, all you liberal polititions, all of you who protest, you are the ones who have kept this and other wars going longer than they would have gone without you. Pride yourselves in the fact you are helping to kill more Americans on the battle field, and here at home because our warriors don't feel like they are accomplishing anything, and the guilt you leave them with causes them to take their own lives.
I am a Viet Nam veteran, have all those who have sacrificed their lives for what they believed in done so in vain? one of you said; "they keep volunteering to go back", they believe in what they are fighting for, thats why they keep going back.
Its to bad the American people no longer think the freedom they have is no longer worth fighting for, we have reached the point our enemy has been waiting for, we are at the point we can be defeated mentally. The only help our enemy needs now is for the three entitys listed above to continue their daily trashing of the American people so our enemys can take heart and continue untill they have won.
When that happens, all the Bush bashing in the world will not bring back our freedom, our freedom will be squandered by money and power hungry liberal polititions and friends whose only concept of sacrifice is: "as long as it is done by others, we won't have to".
Have a nice day.

It is not unusual for the US Military to treat soldiers like trash once they have been used up.
My cousin fought two tours in Vietnam. Part of that time was spent in the jungles of Camobodia (you know, where we said we never were). Apparently in order to maintain secrecy about US troops in Cambodia, other Military units were not told that our troops were in the bush.
In an effort to reveal the enemy, the Air Force saturated the jungle with the defoliant Agent Orange. My cousin was totally covered for several day with this extremely toxic substance.

He was an honor student with full scholarship in Engineering before he voluntered to go to Vietnam. After he finished his service, his nervous system was severely damaged. He was unable to sit still for more than about 30 seconds. He couldn't carry on a conversation lasting more than one or two sentences without it somehow relating to the war.
The VA and the Army and in fact the entire US government realized how widespread that this exact problem was as thousands of men were in the same situation. The solution at that time was to deny that the problem existed and blame the Veteran for being weak.

My cousin was refused treatment because there was nothing wrong.

The criminal Nixon was in power then. I am hopefull that this time around we will not abandoned these men and women who selflessly did what their country asked them to do.

Our nation just buried one of our local young men last week because we broke him. "One weekend a month, 2 weeks a year"... It's supposed to be for helping fill sandbags preparing for a flood, picking up after a tornado, keeping peace during strikes, not for doing 12 month tours in Iraq and then with a month left, get told they'd need to stretch that out to 15.

3 failed wars after WW2, wouldn't it be wonderful if we could convince the world leaders that starting wars is a bad thing. The truth in their reasoning to start wars never seems to make it to the light of day before they start shooting and by that time it's too late. The momentum is too great and we're stuck. We still need a strong army for defense. They can still have their cool, blow-up-stuff toys if they want, just don't go looking for trouble. The cost is too great and the ones making the decisions are rarely the ones paying the price.

My heart and prayers to the families and fallen comrades. I will never forget the first suicide I saw in vietnam. It was such a shock that a officer would do this . We were looking to them for leadership. In the early stages late 66 we looked to these officers for guidance and leadership. When the officers and combat seasoned non coms started doing them self? Many younger less hardened draftees lost hope and saw this as a lost situation . If the the people we are supposed to be learning from are killing themselves ? What the h-ll am I supposed to do who do i believe? Well fellow american and veterans , you take care of your back buddy and you pick and point on the calendar and you strive to survive to reach that point on the calendar then set another. Until you get home You rellay didn't understand the impact. Many returned as volunteered I was one . I was so fked in the brainpan . I had rather be in the jungle on LRRP than watch the people I was fighting for throw dirt at me spit on the ground in front of as I was walking. The worst thing you can do to your enemy is stay alive. I was known as the Indian. I was a medivac doorgunner. LIfe expectancy was 19 hours. I survived 31 months. You find what works for you to justify what you do. I killed by the acre and was not choicy If you where within the perimeter of my LZ I took em all. I realize that the middle east is not vietnam. I also realize that I haven't fought with the modern warfare equiptment. I realize that my brothers and sisters are killing themselves over people who don't seem to wanting to do much for themselves. What a article to wake to . Now before I take this handful of pills and pour this bourbon in my coffee , check the action on my readies ,I have to wipe the tears from this old veterans face so i can find them. Go with GOd and go armed.

...but they keep on volunteering. amazing that many do volunteer, there is no draft...

True, but many of these folks are poorly educated and face flipping burgers as their only civilian job option. Also, limited education leaves them vulnerable to the gung ho propaganda of the military recruiters - they actually believe that crap.

but they keep on volunteering. amazing that many do volunteer, there is no draft. the enemies of the USA read these articles too and, no doubt, use them for their own propaganda. no one is forcing anyone to volunteer. the USA has not won a war since WW2 when the objective was total surrender of the enemy and all weapons at our disposal were used to accomplish that objective. we should not go to war unless the objective is unconditional surrender of the enemy and all weapons will be used including drafting individuals for military service.

"WW2 was a just war and although difficult for some, the trauma can be at least be mitigated by the reality that "I did the right thing", providing much moral support." Posted by karlimhof

"Whether you think it was "just" or no, the fact that the US had to be manipulated into WW2, with the US doing everything within their ability to goad Japan into attacking Pearl Harbor, which provided the excuse to enter the fray, which was something that the vast majority of Americans wanted nothing to do with before Pearl.

It shows that the rationale "I did the right thing" can be used to provide moral support for anything, like for instance lynching "Black" people, genocide against innocent Iraqis, allowing innocent soldiers to be attacked at Pearl Harbor, etcetera.

I am sure all of the perps of these crimes consoled themselves with the same rationale.

True, but the only way for that to happen is if it is made impossible to send them to kill and die for reasons other than true national defense, rather than corporate greed defense.

"...The military is far to important to be used for an idiots folly- this is not a game for childlike minds-just because the cold war ended we cannot give the US presidency to a fool to play with."
Posted by babooph

Funny you should say that, since two fools, both named Bush, took the military and used them as mercenaries for the profit agendas of their corporate cronies, and two earlier fools, Johnson and Nixon, who did the same in Vietnam.

Also, if you check US history, you will find that fools used the US military for stupidities in Grenada, Equador, Columbia, Bolivia, Bozni- Herzogovina, and before that, unnecessarily inserted us into ww2, and even earlier, used it to commit genocide against the original inhabitants of the continent.

The only fools are the ones who still are suckers for that "protecting America" BS.

The military has, except for far too few occasions, no more protected America than the boy scouts, and in fact have become a cesspool of corruption that callously sacrifices the lives of it's brave but naive soldiers for nothing more than the personal profit of those at the top.

The true fool is blind to history, and chooses to substitute his or her own version, despite facts that run contrary to their version.

If these soldiers were not sent out every time they turned around, and then didn't have to come home and work 15 to 18 hours a day, things might be better. My husband committed suicide and the week he did it, his complaint was, he was working to much. We were only married a short period of time. he had just gotten back a couple months before, and after his leave, he was back work 15 hours sometimes 18 hours a day. There was other issues he was battling with as well. No spouse or loved one should ever have to go trough this. These guys need to be treated like human beings, not a disposable piece of property.
