Oh yeah jbrown?

So why don't you tell us who's shutting down Gitmo again....and while you're at it, tell us who's sending millions of dollars to the "Palestinians" (terrorists in GAZA) in order to help them migrate to the USA?

Who's in office right now jbrown? When you can answer that question, you'll have the answer to the top 2 questions as well.

Time to start getting a clue jbrown and start being loyal to your COUNTRY, not your party!

That's because some bleeding heart liberals wrote the U.S. Constitution.

People like you were sucking up to King George III.

Sorry, but "bleeding heart liberals" don't believe God is the authority and that freedoms come from Him, not the government, as our founding fathers clearly recognized.

To say that the founding fathers were "bleeding heart liberals" is one of the most vile distortions of American history that is out there!

i think it is absurb/crazy/nuts, for lawyers, and people to talk about the constitution, which shud only apply to us citizens, and not foreigners.

another point about the geneva convention, this applies to regular armies, not the riff raf, who are caught by the us army in afghanistan, or wherever.

i hate the stupidity of people, who say, we are stooping down to their level, when we lock these people up, since they dont give a damn about what u think or do, and only care about killing people.

Al Marri?s guilt or innocence is not the issue. He may or may not be guilty of what he is being tried for. What is at issue is that as a nation of laws we must abide by those laws or risk devolving into something akin to the fascist regimes of the 1930s and 40s. Think it can?t happen here? Any demagogue with enough moxie and determination can cajole the people into a mindless mob capable of anything.
If you think I am too far out on this, just consider the responses given here! Way too many responses show an all too easy lapse into a vigilantly hang m high attitude without any understanding of who they are hanging and why. Just because they where arrested they must actually be terrorists? We do not know their guilt or innocence, that is why they must have access to a fair trial so that the truth of the matter can be found out.
Hitler used the Reichstag fire as the means to round up all of his political enemies and establish himself with emergency rule over Germany. 911 was the excuse used to usurp the constitution and establish extraordinary rule by the President of the United States and the abandonment of habeas corpus and due process of law.
Does anyone get it? The Bush years brought about the loss of all of our rights as United States citizens. By order of the President, any one of us could be arrested and held without trial indefinitely. Anyone who opposes the policies of a given president and/or his political supporters is subject to extra judicial restraints without recourse. This has to be reversed and reversed immediately less we get lulled into a sleep over this issue by a presidential regime we like. A precedent has been established by Bush. If it is not overturned now, then when we get another megalomaniac like him in power, that person will be able to abuse that power even more.

"Hamdi, a Saudi who by virtue of his birth in Louisiana held dual U.S. citizenship, was deported back to Saudi Arabia in 2004. "

Did he renounced US citizenship before an American consul in Saudi Arabia? If he still has US citizenship on what legal basis was his US citizenship revoked or was is based on presidential propoganda? If it's not legally revoked than why was he deported in 2004?

"If these bottom-feeders are AMERICAN, the first thing they should understand is that the American liberties are for Americans "

As far as I understand if the SOB is born in the USA and holds US citizenship than he's as much as an American as those who are serving to fight them in Iraq and Afghanistan. You better be careful with what you wish for because what the Bush administration did was set us on a prescedent towards dictorship in which anybody could be held indefinately as an 'enemy combatant'. If we're not careful then there will come a time that to add a comment on here (or similar site) or to participate in a peaceful protest against the war (or whatever propoganda of the day) can be considered an 'act of terrorism' or 'treason'. There's a saying that goes "be careful with what you wish for or you may just get it"

".... Leave his cage door open and let him try running... Then shoot the SOB...................................."

Leave the cage door open yes. But, not shoot the SOB unless proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt and where shooting the SOB is legally allowed. Anybody from terrorists to shoplifters, who stole only a single $0.99 cent item, to a traffic ticket all have a right to due process. The burden of proof is on the state (in this case the US government) to prove guilty beyond reasonable doubt. All are presumed innocent till proven guilty. The constitution is written that way for a reason.

"Well, that's not how we play in America, unless we're asking for our enemies to do the same"

Exactly. When we hold them indefinately and tortured them we've stooped down to their level. When we stooped down to their level then what incentive there is on their part to adhere? OK so, al Queda is lawless and they could give a rat's ass about the Geneva Convention because they are not a a 'foreign army' per se. They are a criminal syndicate similar to being mercernaries only on a reglious high than for money (even our own terrorist group (aka Blackwater) had failed to uphold to any international or Iraqi law on the matter either). But real armies like those in Iran, North Korea, and/or Syria are more obligated to to adhere to the conventions. So what incentives would there be to treat American POW's with humanity and with dignity as prescribed by the conventions of warfare should we had gone to war against them? We pretty much gave them the 'green light' to waterboard and perhaps even behead our own had the war widened into Iran and Syria. We pretty much lost our say to protect them should they become POW's in Iran. So how is that "supporting the troops?"

The guy is a terriorist, just gas him, hang him do what ever. I am tired of the liberal whinning about how we treat terriorists. Look what they do,they behead people on camera for the world to see and the liberals cry like babies because we dont give them a trial. Hell with the trial, get rid of him. KEEP AMERICA SAFE.

I believe the name of the organization is the American Civil Liberties Union. Not the Foreign Terrorists Support Organization or anything like that. If these bottom-feeders are AMERICAN, the first thing they should understand is that the American liberties are for Americans and are provided as a template for other countries to emulate (or not) as they see fit. Aiding a sworn enemy is still treason. Attempting to force the American people to accept a watered-down version of the Constitution is, again, treason, not to mention violation of a number of US Codes. Encouraging others to break the law is, again, against the law. Throw these "lawyers" and their illegitimate offspring (the politicians) to the sharks.
