CBS Evening News: Anger Growing Over How Much Taxpayers Will Fund Family With 14 Kids
- Amen, Tramplers!! I was saying the same thing yesterday and got blasted for it so watch out!! I told these people that when I got divorced I was working a full time job, barely making ends meet and I was denied any kind of assistance because I made too much money. Sure I had small children to take care of. Sure I was working. But still, I was having a hard time because everything is so expensive and I am not a doctor or lawyer and I don''t have family that is wealthy. I was trying my best to do the right thing and basically I was punished for that. It is wrong!!! It made me feel like I was wasting my time doing the right thing when I could have been home with my kids feeding them good food that food stamps buy and all that. I chose not to do that because it is the wrong thing to do. I actually went out and got a part-time job as well which caused me to lose out on precious hours with my baby girl. I will never get those back. This country is bassackwards. What a shame.

- I heard something years ago that really pissed me off.this lady got on the bus with a baby. She said *I am handicapped I have a baby* That was the dumbest thing I ever heard. Having babies does not handicap an abled bodied woman. I was pissed. I use a white cane and yes I am legally blind with c/p. I try hard to spell as properly as I can. I am not cold here. We have 2 breasts. It is unnatural to have more than 2 babies at a time. This is a problem there are too many. i don''t have a dog..I can''t aford it. I am childless due to my handicaps. A child needs the basics. It is 24/7. I am poor. I think what got us ticked off is she can''t care for the sp needs children. I have to hunt and peck as I have C/P. I know ladies have them to grt aid. children are not to be used as pawns. The cuteness will go away. They grow up.It is one to want children and another to have them. There is gangs of kids on the streets. There is kids in jail. The tax payers should be pissed at the wars that are a waste of money. Forget the church. I don''t go.

- After walking back into my office, a refresh brought a light that people actually respond to this stuff, my comment should go to the president of CBS, not a series of judgemental human beings, my point is to not turn on my national news and have every channel tabloid the "un-news", and feeling sorry for her hardly rings in my voice, jealousy that she may make more money than me this year from making an unusual choice, kudos! Myself; educated, heavily traveled, non religious, business owner, that payes a lot of taxes, with little time to waste on BS, now realizing why I don''t write in. Get a grip people, she didn''t do anything wrong, society has made it possible for her to do this, thank yourself, your opinion of that, is just that, not rule, crooked bankers, now that is wrong, invading a country on lies, is wrong, news is supposed to be factual disertation, not opinions! Will not respond further! Enjoy! Who is crying more, the general public? Death threats? come on people!!GO BABIES!!!!!

- USTAXPAYER -- Excellent post. No employer wants to hire someone who has a history of fraud. The employer would be setting itself up either some future workmen''s comp claim, or at best, excessive absences for child illnesses, etc. It''ll never happen.

- This morning one of your reporters quoted Ms. Soleman as saying that her relying on food stamps is only temporary and your reporter went on to say "we''re going to hold her to that". Who are you to give this woman requirements? We are blessed to live in a country whose government will help those in need, for whatever reason they need that help, and thank God for that. Woman who have needed this help have always been judged harshly by others. You with your celebrity job have no right to judge a woman, or any woman, without enough money to get by, for whatever reason. Shame on you.

- I can only imagine who might hire this person should she ever finish an education. She is a workman''s comp case looking for a employer to collect from. This story is just another example of how our once great country is sliding into the quagmire by those who have been conditioned to get a hand out.

- So while Nadya Suleman is begging for donations on her website she is out buying expensive electronic games for her other children.
Plus because of death threats either real or invented by her wacky publicist she may have to have police protection.
The pictures of her on the net with enormous bulging abdomen are sickening to look at and I%u2019m wondering how they were obtained in the first place.
How much more bizarre is this going to get before some agency intervenes and takes those babies away? - Reply to this comment
"I so look forward to the day when I''m not getting any kind of help with food stamps, which I believe will end right when I graduate," she said."
Nadya must think that "right when she graduates" all bills are suspended and her new job will just fall down from the sky. LOL
It does not work like that, ol little uterus moocher who has not worked in a decade. First, you have to get a job--and how fast you get one or if it is in your field will depend on the economy and your grades/connections/demeanor/reputation/need in that field.
Second, there is a lapse between getting a job and getting a check. In the interim, there is no money coming in. Nadya, sweetie--you should know that experts in CA are stating that the most you can expect to make with your Masters in counseling in 60K a year. For a family of 15, that will still put you at poverty level. You will need those food stamps--provided your attempts at notoriety don''t pay off, right now.- Reply to this comment
- It is purely self-interest, but who paid for the IVF implants in the first place?

Had you been following this story for the past month, or read the numerous articles, you would already know that according to Nadya--she first said she saved up for a while to pay for the IVF from her job--she later amended that on Dateline and admitted she used her disability benefits to pay for the treatments which totaled over 100 thousand dollars.
The irony is that she refused treatments to help her back, and ignored the doctors'' advice that pregnancy would make her back worse. She ignored this advice at least 6 times--on top of that--though she never worked again after 1999, and considered herself incapable of working, she could drive a car, go to school, study, do research, sit at a desk and have 14 kids while collecting benefits. The duties of a student are not unlike the duties of a clerical worker. If she could do all of that--she was not disabled. California is refusing to pay the medical bills of the preemies at Kaiser. - Reply to this comment

There are a few differences: Since 1995, States cap welfare checks to recipients so that no matter how many kids they have, they do not receive more money. The limit is usually full benefits for the first child, half benefits for the second, none for any others. INcreased food stamps--yes, money--NO
Children claimed on other people''s tax returns is a lie. Because SS# must accompany each child and a cross check would quickly determine the child was receiving benefits. This would then be a tax fraud case as well as immediate cancellation of benfits.
As a person who has worked within that system--I know the rules, the games, and the lies when I see them. Finally, what is horrendous (and you may have failed to note this) is not simply the having of 14 kids on the tax payers dime--it is:
1. The pretending to be disabled then using state money to get implanted with babies
2. The attempt to become famous and make millions on the backs of kids (won''t see too many in the hood doing that)
3. The creation of 14 babies all under the age of 7 within 8 years--no hood people or anyone else has done that
4. The expectation that the one act will net her a new home, car, and the money to see her live in luxury--not for the sake of her kids--but definitely due to her kids - Reply to this comment
- It is purely self-interest, but who paid for the IVF implants in the first place? MediCal won''t provide medication for migraines, and "give" single women one mammogram per five years (if you''re a parent, you get a better deal, but it still ain''t great), and are cutting back a whole range of services, so I doubt that MediCal paid. If they did, that''s a far better target for the ire and bile currently focused on this lady who seems to have bought into the whole "me first, you maybe" ethos I have seen in that demographic.

- Nadya did not do anything to her parents that they did not enable, allow and condone or they would have just said NO. The grandmother is no hero, nor is she abused. She raised Nadya to be a self centered, spoiled girl used to others cleaning up behind her, or supporting her no matter what.

This sense of entitlement and absolute belief that others will sort it out, make it right and pay for it and it is her right--started with her parents not letting her face and take responsibility for consequences and not doing the hard things. Like:
1.Making Nadya NOT go to school but get a job to care for her FIRST child.
2. Like reporting her to disability, when discovering she could type, travel or do other things that could have netted her a job
3. Like forcing her to find her own home for her growing brood, pay for her own childcare and let hit home the huge and heavy responsibility that child rearing is, when a person actually does the work
4. Like contacting disability, when against her doctors advice her daughter was actually endangering her back more and was using state money to get impregnated (they would have suspended her benefits pending investigation)
The hard things are not pretty, nor are they nice, or fun--but to raise children and teach them to be productive and not sponges--all the hard things are necessary. Angela and Daud did not do the hard things and so their little monster has grown up believing the hard things are done by everyone else and for her--and now--its up to the world to either underline the way Angie and Daud raised her, or to open her eyes to the real world. Take the kids, make her repay loans and benefits, leave her with the lessons--begin raising this unraised, spoiled brat.- Reply to this comment

- What I%u2019m going to say is going to offend some, but I don%u2019t care, this is freedom of speech. Everyone is acting so surprised and angry about this woman, but it''s not just her. In the ghetto where I grew up, young woman had so many babies that I%u2019ve known some of them to spread them out amongst the family. They get big welfare checks, $500 to $700 a month food stamps, section 8 public housing assistance, energy assistance, Medicaid you name it, they got it and the social workers do nothing but add the new baby to the benefits. They even run their own business of making money by allowing strangers to claim earned income taxes on their kids to make a profit, because they never worked a day in their lives. I argued for years about this, it is selfish to the innocent children and unfair to us hardworking people. The only difference between Nadya and the women in the hood is Nadya paid for invitro and they just slept with 14 different men with no protection. Nadya%u2019a Doctor won%u2019t stop implanting her, and the Public Assistant County offices won%u2019t make these girls get a job instead of lying up and having a bunch of babies. There you go.

- Matt....you obviously must be either very young or quite naive. Any parent can tell you that their children deserve 100% of their time and effort devoted to seeing they are well cared for, loved, and nurtured. You call this woman a good mother. Take another look. If anyone should be applauded, it is her parents - her mother who has been put in a position to provide shelter and care for her daughter and six now 14 children. It is her father who is returning to work in Iraq - not the safest environment in the world just to help pay for the care of his daughter''s desire to have far more children than one much less three adults could hope to raise without it resulting in their early death from sheer exhaustion. Reality! Interject just a tad bit for heaven''s sake. AND yes, anytime someone is utilizing the resources of the taxpayers, the taxpayers have a right to voice concerns. Personally I think this young woman should be investigated for more than the concern of the children. I think she is guilty of elder abuse for what she''s done to her parents.
