Is it unethical to invade the medical privacy of a young mother? There are so many unethical issues in our society today e.g. the current Madoff scandal in which some 50,000,000,000 allegedly disappeared, much of it from charitable organizations, that it astonishes me CBS news would choose to focus on the successful birth of octuplets as an ethical issue, especially when the mother in question and her doctors originally reportedly requested privacy.

i undestand all that but, what i dont understand all the death threats towards her."i hope you enjoy hell cus thats where people like you go",etc.i havent seen any on this part of the website but i know that ive seen plenty elswhere.is that really what people hope for?for her to die, with her being a single mother, and to leave all fourteen of those children?if thats true, than i guess i honestly dont understand whats wrong with many americans minds.i dont hope for her to die and to leave so many as orphans.

i dont accept such behavior as smart, such as the fact that she already owes around 50,000 in student loans.if she needs that to pay for her children, what about later?shell still need the money from her future job to pay for her children, yet she says shes gonna pay back the loans with that money.

i at least hope she can pay back her loans and help her children grow up a bit till she can realize she isnt responsible enough to care for so many and alow them each to be taken into care that will provide for them.

ps:remeber this is the opinion of a 13 yr old girl, and im not tryin to be a saint, this it just how i think

ummm,i understand that not only a danger to the eight children who have just been born, but its also a danger to the six who were previously brought into this world.firstly because theres the chance that if she cant take care of just those eight alone than she cant take care of the total fourteen, and they could be seperated/taken to foster care.i also understand that while they were still embryos they werent able to think "i want to be born" etc,and her bringing them into this world was because of her own selfish wants and not because of the needs of the children.

Another fine candidate for Mother of the year! Will it be Casey Anthoney? One (or all) of the Future Fishwives of Gloucester High School? Or This breeding halfwit, Nadya Suleman? Maybe it will be the murdering single mommy from New York who drowned her three children before attempting suicide! Such fine poster children for single motherdom! Future single mommies, consider birth control or abortion before becoming a drain on my tax dollars, please.

Let''s set aside the ethics of raising (or not raising) these children for a moment, and think about malpractice. Humans are not meant to have litters. These children survived the pregnancy and birth, but they all have a very high probability of permanent neurological and physical defects.

The physician implanted eight embryos. Eight!!! He bears full responsibility for performing a procedure where the very high health risk was not balanced by the possible gains. She wasn''t balancing the risk of success versus certain death or severe pain, either mental or physical. And none of these children asked to be created. I know the Hippocratic Oath is optional now, but doing no harm is still the fundamental basis of medicine.

This doctor needs to be relieved of his medical license. The world doesn''t need any more mad scientists.

This is so insane to me that is almost unbelieveable. I will never understand people putting there own selfish wants (wanting so many children) in front of the well-being of the children themselves. She cannot possibly take care of these children alone, and how selfish of her to think that these children dont deserve to have a father figure in their lives.
She''s not able to work but she''s nuts enough to think she can take care of 14 kids. As far as the doctor goes, he''s crazier than she is. Doctors do have an ethical responsiblity to the potential children being born, and the mother, to do what is best for the health of all involved. Isn''t that what doctors are supposed to do, oversee the health and well being of their patients, especially if they are obviously as unstable as this poor woman? As far as taxpayers taking care of her children....it''s inevitable.

Well, I think you are all wrong about Dr.Kamrava He is a great Doctor without him I would not have my 7 month old daughter.I had been to many other doctor in Beverly Hills That lied to me and took my money. Dr.Kamrava was the only Doctor that was Honest to me. You the Odds in all those eggs taking was a miracle in itself. I had five put in only one took. The last time I check we do live in the United States of America we have the choice of having as many children as we want. I''m not condoning her choice of not choosing selective termination of some of her embryos but it still is her choice no matter what. It is not the doctor responsibility to ask if you can support your children. No doctor has every asked my husband or myself, where we work or if we can support a child after spending 100,000 in fertility treatments. When you have any treatment done you are told of all of your possibilities that could happen and you you sign papers. It was her responsibility and her choice not the doctor and as far as how many eggs are put in depends on many factor. I stand behind Dr.Kamrava
