- I too am sorry for anyone who has died from cervical cancer but to think that at one time they were considering that all teen girls be vaccinated with Gaurdasil is frightening. My gynecologist suggested I get my daughter in to be vaccinated. I would not allow my daughter to be vaccinated by something that was being advertised on television to prevent cancer, only in some cases. The risk was too high. There was not enough testing done in my opinion to "push" this drug.

- Excellent article. 5,000 trips to the emergency room and 29 healthy children killed and people still defend this worthless snake oil. How brainwashed can people get?? Merck executives should be charges with murder because they KNOW THE VACCINE IS NOT SAFE.

- Dear TeresaV7: I am sorry your mom had cancer, but am glad she is still alive. You and your friends are lucky that you haven''t had any severe reactions to the vaccine. Please don''t be so hard on who aired this piece. It is necessary. As a grandmother, when I first heard of this vaccine I have had a negative feeling about it. I have told my daughter NOT to get it for my granddaughters. I believe that there is not enough evidence to prove that it is safe. I think by this report, my theory is being proven correct. I think you will find that in the years to come, as these girls are old enough to have kids, you will find that this vaccine will have messed up their baby factories. I hope you and your friends don''t have a problem like that, but don''t be surprised. How do you know that the cancer your mom had would have been prevented by this vaccine? The disclaimer with this vaccine states that it does not take care of ALL HPV''s or cancer. You could still be at risk. So why risk taking a vaccine that has not been allowed to prove what will happen when the girls grow up and get older? In my opinion there is too much still unknown about this drug.

- I''m surprised the report doesn''t also mention that the Gardasil shot has also caused genital warts (HPV) in some of the younger children receiving it. It''s one thing to have side effects, but when one of the side effects is giving someone the disease itself someone needs to rethink the vaccine. Especially because most cases of HPV resolve without ever causing cancer, and because the vaccine doesn''t even protect against all strains of HPV. There are lots of other girls who have been affected and/or died from the Gardasil shot. Maybe when healthy young male athletes start keeling over people will wake up and listen. Hopefully it won''t come to that.

- As a DES daughter, I know first hand the side effects of so called miracle drugs. Having lived with the possibility of uterine cancer since the onset of puberty, I religiously had my pap smears done yearly. Everyone should be aware that HPV isn''t the only cause of uterine and cervical cancer. I had dysplasia at 29, but not cancer, before I had to have a TAH in my 40s--- after years of unsuccessful infertility treatments (another side effect of DES). Long story short, Gardasil is only good against several of the HPV viruses--- not all of them. Getting the vaccine alone could give young women the false impression that they are "safe" and forego yearly pap smears. That would be a mistake. The pap smear, done correctly, is still the best preventative to the onset of cancer or of it spreading. So the makers of Gardasil should go back to the drawing board. Make a better shot and make a safer one.

- "Meantime, Merck has asked the FDA to approve it for boys, who can pass on the cancer causing virus to girls, meaning the number of people getting Gardasil may double."
Ah, reporters...they''ll show their ignorance every time. Thousands of men have already gotten the vaccine because the same viruses that cause cervical cancer also cause penile cancer--end of story. But, there''s more. The vaccine also protects against anal cancer, certain types of throat cancer and it prevents genital warts. Sorry ladies. It ain''t chivalry that will be driving all those lads to recieve the vaccine, much as the reporters would like to keep saying, but rather their own selfish interests. - Reply to this comment
- I woukld gladly walk in her shoes if she would walk one day in my mom''s. I''ll bet she''d be crawling back to her own at the end of the day.

- Gabby, We are all behind you. We are all very proud of you to stand up for yourself against Gardasil. For the posters here posting how wonderful this vacine is, I challenge them to come and walk in your shoes just one day. Sweetie God says he never gives us anything he knows we can''t handle. Although I don''t understand why this had to happen to you, I know God knew you would take up the fight and make sure word got out of the negative side of this vacine. You are in our every prayer and just know your real friends (one being my daughter) will take this journey with you every step of the way. We reach out to you and your family, take your hand and reassure you that you guys are not alone in this fight. We Love you.

- I can''t believe people are attacking Gaurdasil. My mother was diagnosed with Stage 3 cervical cancer ten years ago; it had matasticized onto her abdominal wall. I was 10 years old and her doctor told me she WOULD die. She didn''t, but she is in constant pain because of the massive hysterectomy she had to have. She works for Merck. I got Gaurdasil right after it became available. So have all my friends. No one has had ANY negative reactions. I thank God that none of them will get the cancer that almost took my mother''s life. Needless to say, I''m very irritated this was aired.
