CBS Evening News Exclusive: Placid Midwest Town Turned Upside Down By Alleged Hit List And Secretive Group
- Wow! And not one word from the Department Homeland Security on how they had intercepted the communications?
Wait, wait, what was all the illegal wiretapping for if not to catch terrorists at work? Or were they just too busy monitoring the Fortune 500 CEOs to get hot stock tips?
Bush hasn`t kept us safe, the terrorists just haven`t tried. - Reply to this comment

- Oh, I''''m sorry. This story''''s 15 minutes of fame has now ended.
The story has been replaced with ANOTHER vitally important story about credit card interest rates.
Nobody cares about your little town cult anymore.
Sorry. Really, I feel your pain.
Sorry. Terribly sorry.
So very, very sorry that nobody cares.
Sorry.
Bye.

- SIST . . . , after the group and some of its members began buying up property in and around town . . . But several of their storefronts now sit empty - and thousands of dollars in property taxes remain unpaid.
Hmm, didn''t the FBI arrested the ganster Al Capone over unpaid taxes? Wasn''t that why he was finally arrested after years of known organized crime activity and murder?
And by the way, If someone can just pay your delinquent property tax and take ownership of your property without you being aware of it, can''t the town just get together and do the same and take ownership away from the SIST while kicking them out? After all if you can do that to a widowed senior citizen or people who are facing forclosure, why not do it to unfavorables? Or is it only legal against the elderly and homeowners facing forclosures?
Just wondering. - Reply to this comment
- txgrouch:
I''ve come to the conclusion that the tx in your pseudonym really stands for "too extreme." Do you also look for subversive patterns in bathroom floor tile groupings? They''re there if you really look for them. You can find them in cloud formations too. It''s clearly a conspiracy in which the Democrats are involved. The bathroom tiles were laid by union workers, and unions are linked to the Democrats. And the clouds were seeded by the Weather Channel...clearly liberal sympathizers because they''re part of the MSM. - Reply to this comment

- "Well here we have another story about liberals and their victimization of peaceful christians. What else is new."

Why not wait for the facts of the investigation to be revealed before drawing your conclusion regarding who is being victimized? We have two sets of allegations: Cameron claims SIST owed him money and made an offer that was beyond what he was owed if he made a hit on local officials; SIST claims Cameron''s allegations are untrue, that they have been targeted unfairly by local officials, that Mr. Cameron is conspiring with the local officials, and various other charges of prejudice and victimization.
To me, the only fact in this story that causes it to rise above an escalating squabble between the entrenched leadership and a sizable new population is the statement by the RCMP that Cameron''s assertion is "serious and credible." The RCMP is not going to risk its reputation to further the interests of a group of local U.S. officials, U.S. liberals, or a U.S. politician. But I''ll reserve judgment until more facts are available and there are indictments sworn against individuals.
BTW, the liklihood of the leaders of this small town in Wisconsin being liberals is slim, if you think they''re the ones who are victimizing SIST. Or do you think CBS is victimizing them by reporting this story? - Reply to this comment
- Good heavens. What is with the anger over this being a story? You don''t seriously expect ALL the news to be about the blag. scandal to you? My goodness, that would bore people to the point where they don''t even want to watch the news anymore. Perhaps some did hold off on revealing what was going on with blag...politics certainly is dirty business. Why do you think McCain doesn''t like Bush (Bush''s camp started the rumors regarding the birth of McCain''s adopted daughter). I''m a conservative myself, and understand the frustration with the elections or what have you, but the victim mentality is irritating and to act like every story is a "distraction" from the democratic scandal is ridiculous. It''s an interest story...people are interested in cults. I''m from Shawano myself and I''m glad this story is receiving some national attention.
