Canajun3,

You would like to think that America is responsible for everything bad. You need to get off your drugs and read a few history books.

I know history well enough, leeanna58. Well enough to know that the US used known Nazi war criminals in the post-war years to build secret weapons and to spy on people it didn''t agree with. Well enough to know that the US engaged in active assassination against perceived enemies and propped up right-wing dictatorships from Nicaragua and Guatemala in Central America to Iran in the Middle East and Vietnam in Asia. Well enough to know that Reaganomics, the corporatizing of the so-called ''free'' world, and the commoditization of the essentials of life like clean water all have their roots in the USA. Every one of these has ramifications that are being felt all over the world, but if you want to deny them, well, that''s the American prerogative, isn''t it?

I beg to differ with some people who have posted here on the use of pot.I''ve seen wrecks on our highways that could not be traced to the excessive use of alcohol but could be traced to the use of marijuana or some other mind altering drug. I''ve done three kinds of legal and illegal drugs and the worst kind are those that cause dependence whether it''s alcohol marijuana or opium all three can cause different kinds of feelings according to the user''s resistance to the drug. I personally think that opium is the worst, followed by alcohol and third marijuana. I believe that the only way that this country will ever be able to fight the illegal drug traffickers in this country is to legalize the drugs that we''re trying to stop from coming across our borders and make the price of said drugs affordable to the average man who wants to use them. That way he wouldn''t have to go to a illicit drug dealer to get his drugs. And I believe that if the Government would do what I suggest it would probably improve our economy. And help stop the rampant killings that are happening in Mexico and will eventually happen here in the United States. It''s just a matter of time before our streets will run red from drug factions fighting for control of an area that some other drug dealer has control of...When-ever that happens innocent people usually are hurt worse than the drug dealers with the amount of lives lost and the cost of medical treatment for the victims that survive said drug-wars.

This country has forgotten the lessons of Prohibition. Its that simple. The bootleggers were killing each other too.

Tobacco may not want to make someone kill someone else, but it does kill a lot of people and drive up health care costs:

"Tobacco causes 40 per cent of all hospital illnesses, while alcohol is blamed for more than half of all visits to hospital emergency rooms. The substances also harm society in other ways, damaging families and occupying police services."

But if someone wants to smoke tobacco, that''s their choice.

I''m not an Obama supporter, but they should leave the man alone if he wants to smoke a cigarette, or make everyone quit.

I appreciate the talk ALLULOSERS, it turned out better than it started, but I have to go.

I agree with you that ALL drugs should not be legal.

Have a good day.

Live Long and Prosper.

The human desire for mind-altering drugs is a fact of reality. Prohibition ignores this reality. Most illegal drugs are more dangerous than alcohol. Prohibition ignores this reality as well.

Pot users would not be supporting organized crime if pot use were legal. The groupthink that created sweeping drug prohibition in the 1930s is terribly outdated and, frankly, is a failure of BOTH political parties. Indeed, prohibition ruined far more lives than use - and its continuation after all these years is probably the greatest failure of my generation.

God bless Ronald Reagan, slayer of the communist hoard and savior of the free world.

In one way or another, most of the world''''s problems can be traced directly back to the United States of America.

Wrong! drugs are not legal in Holland. They just don,t enforce the law for minor possession or use therof, although talks are underway to reasses the growing problem of drugs and the derived crime related to drugs. The only countries that have relatively small problems with illegal drugs are the ones with the harshest penalties, such as an automatic 25 years for possession of any amount, or the death sentance for being a seller.
