The Cuban embargo, and the US military presence in Cuba, makes absolutely no sense. Everything we buy is from China, which is far more oppresive, militant and threatening than Cuba. We buy oil from people who hate us. We need to make it a point in the coming years to act less crazy than we have in the past.

The embargo has historically been a means to insure political victory in Florida. Obama could have lost half a dozen Floridas and still won. This isn''''t a good enough reason to oppress a tiny neighboring country any more.

For years the United States has tried to keep Communism/Socialism/Marxism from taking controll South American countries. The embargo in Cuba probably slowed if not stopped the spead of Communism to many South American countries. We also wanted to keep Soviet influence out of South America as much as possible. Communism was a big threat at one time when Communists were intent on world domination. Cuba was viewed as a staging area for Soviet activities. As to whether our concerns about the spread of Communism today still today hold true, the Cubans have known for years how easily the embargo could be lifted by offering friendship to the United States goverment instead of hostility.

Maybe we should either make Gitmo Obama''s summer home- security is great. Or farm it out to a developer and create a resort on those great beaches. Tax it and make some money.

So we are going to bring criminals that hate america, would love to kill americans to the US and introduce them to justice american style where they''ll have all the rights of a citizen. Just great! Even their own countries don''t want them back.

I am going to just sit on my laurels and let my wife Michelle collect her millions from Walmart, a share holder participant, and I am going to borrow from China, Walmart goods, so this way the Chinese will be sure to rule our economy.

China''s economy is only a quarter of the US. They ain''t ruling anything. All we have to do is undo the damage Jr. and his pals did, get our house in order and stop feeling sorry for ourselves.

I was reading about President-Elect Obama is moving to close down GTMO Bay. I was stationed there for two years in the Marine Corps. I thought the main reason we were there for was because of GITMO

The psychology that has helped create Guantanamo is clearly irrational, childish, and shortsighted. In other words, the place doesn''t have any strategic value whatsoever.
Guantanamo''s only purpose is to publicly torture a number of Muslims regardless of who they are so the US can get under the skin of Muslims around the world.
It''s a lesson to be taught, a "dare-you-to-do- something-about-it", an insult that doesn''t go away, an anger trying to get in every Muslim''s face.
Guantanamo, to the pleasure of Jr. and his ilk, might have achieved all that but it has absolutely done nothing else.
With Obama as the dignified President of the US the laughs from the White House will finally come to an end.
