VP Candidate Speaks Frankly With Katie Couric About Feminism, Homosexuality, Abortion And The Environment
- Americans have seen enough of Joe Biden over the span of his career to know that he was not the right pick for a presidential candidate on more than one occasion.
Joe Biden won''''t be revealing anything new to anyone, or changing anyone''''s mind at the debate.
But it will be interesting to see how Sarah Palin performs, and what her stand on issues is - all under the intense media scrutiny that Obama has never faced.
I say that because of Americans recognizing his media-bubble protection, Obama has a lot more to lose in this debate than McCain does.

- Couric: Can you tell me how Alaska has Relations with Soviets and what qualifies you as a diplomat with the Russians.
Palin: Well just recently is currently believed that the ocean levels rose and fell several times in the past. During extended cold periods, tremendous volumes of water are deposited on land in the form of ice and snow, which can cause a corresponding drop in sea level. The last "ice age" occurred around 12-15,000 years ago. During this period the shallow seas now separating Siberia from North America near the present day Bering Strait dropped about 300 feet and created a 1,000 mile wide grassland steppe, linking Asia and North America together with the "Bering Land Bridge". Across this vast steppe, plants and animals traveled in both directions, and humans entered the Americas. So that makes us all Russians because we all walked over that land together holding hands to North America and it makes us all Kin-folk in other words we are all related and one big family. - Reply to this comment

- Let us all applaud Palin''s 8 yrs of tranformative legislation. Oh wait...she''s just a soccer mom who obviously doesnt know how to use birth control who got elected governor because the other candidates were a fisherman and a meth dealer. sskinner you really need to cut the *** and leave to commenting to people who actually know what they are talking about.

- Let%u2019s praise him for his accomplishment but let him go back and get 8 years of transformative legislation under his belt and then he can come back. (last bit to 5 of 5)

- sskinner9, you really think Obama could not about write a book on any of the questions that Palin was asked and then tried to fake through. Obama has spent his life in public policy where Palin was a small town mayer and gov of a state that has had no crisis while she was in office - oh, other then a budget surplus that she then had her Dept of Revenue write checks to the citizens of Alaska.
But really, sskinner9, for you to claim there is a media bias. Please. Wake up sskinner9. There are other places to get your news then Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. - Reply to this comment

- Remember how the media honed into Gore''s sighing during a debate over and over, that is sensationalism. This killed some independent voter and yet we know that he was much better than Bush, more insight and now we wish he had been President... well let''s not pray for wishbone but for backbone. Listen to Obama next time and realize that he does not say anything. He goes around and around, to the extent that the interviewers move on to the next question. Biden hasn''t told me what he stands for and what he has done, I wonder if he was just going through the motions for 40 years. McCain has a record and even though he might say that he doesn''t want to raise taxes to the wealthy, I could bet that he will if necessary because he has proven time and time again that he does the right thing not what is popular. Don''t see Obama''s link of McCain to Bush superficially, If one goes back in time one realizes that McCain disagreed in many things with the current administration but his brilliance came when he had to work in a bipartisan way even with people he disagreed in his own party to pass legislation. Do not be fooled, Obama%u2019s inexperience will not get us out of the woods because he has never been accountable for governing a thing. And the media does not address this. (Let%u2019s also remember the pink elephant in the room. The media is not addressing Obama%u2019s running as the biggest civil right movement since the 60%u2019s. This is and expression of the double standard.) 5 of 5)

- sskinner - You and Sarah Palin would be best friends, you just went on and on and on taking up all the space on the web page and did''nt say anything that couldn''t have been expressed in a few short lines. What''s all those references to SNL about? Idiots abound.

- Palin with 5 kids, being a governor of Alaska boy she can multi-task. Obama could not come home for dinner because he was to busy to run his community service, why reward this. let''s reward the true hero. Palin had five kids and was major and governor in cold, wild country Alaska. If there is a person who can accomplish anything is Palin. Ms Fey you are so funny and brilliant but take a moment to think about the impact of your show for millions of women to come, how one woman in Washington higher than a First Lady could change the world. Chile, Argentina, Israel have women leading them, yet in the land of freedom we mock women''s experience and want to make them slip. Make fun of Biden, make fun of Obama and his pastor (a pastor who baptized his girls, married him and was a friend, if the pastor pastors you then you are led by him even in the most subconscious way), make fun of McCain (if you can-anyone who stays behind as a P.O.W. to let others go boy has more character, than anyone else I have met. Would you do it?) But really try to meet Palin half-way, don''t let media use sensationalism (like repeating over and over again a mistake, or honing on looks, or gestures) look behind the scenes. - fiasco of the 80''s, I wonder if they are behind the subprime mortgage deregulation as well). Now we are going to trust someone who wants to "change things", with even less experience than Bush, who can pronounce "nuclear", who as Bush is going to surround himself with top advisors, advisors who have advised us into over 10 trillion national debt, people losing jobs, not been able to buy gas, and now having to bail those same people who said "trusts us". I am tired of trusting inexperienced people. At least Palin and McCain have done it before, yes she is "just" a Governor but that is more than Obama has ever run and he couldn''t come to dinner because he was busy. Yes she speaks from the heart and makes mistakes but isn''t that what we want someone who doesn''t have the Washington patterns pat down to take us for a ride again. SNL and Tina Fey are great I believe they should make fun of Palin, but make fun of Biden too, and Obama. However, study the First Ladies, these women have changed the face of the country one step at a time. For instance Caroline Harrison was asked to talk at Johns Hopkins and she said she would only do it if the University would start accepting women in their school. That is how women were able to start a career in medicine. Just that little thing. (3 of 5)

- We have to scrutinize ourselves and observe that women are always dismissed even with the highest experience, look at Hillary. I challenge anyone to honestly look into Hillary Clinton''s life and tell me they are not in awe. Obama has done much less that even George W. did as governor, and he is not been scrutinized. That is the double standard. What about Biden, I like him, yet what has he done in 40 years, The media, SNL, and everyone are more interested in Palin''s hairdo than the facts. I don''t know if this sexist double standard is so ingrained in us...to doubt women just because they are women...that not even my hero Katie is seeing what she is doing. Let''s talk about issues and plans. They let Obama say anything about what he wants to change yet he has not change a single thing in the past. It is great to have a dream but frankly George W.s slogan was to change things too. Look where we are, we trusted his change in Iraq, in preemptive strikes (and now they are condemning Russia for a preemptive strike in Georgia-talk about double stds) , in the axis of evil, in deregulation, in sending Saudi kings back to their country after 9/11, in hoarding the largest oil inventory in the Us while the rest of us pays top dollars, (anyone has forgotten his family makes profits from oil companies, or that one of his brother''s was instrumental in the savings/loans (2 of 5)

- I love CBS evening news and katie. However, I can see "the so called media bias" Ms. Palin was asked questions that frankly no other candidate was asked. Like the magazines questions, ask that to Obama, or Biden even McCain, who reads magazines/papers nowadays but the few, we read blogs, we watch Katie we get our information differently. I wonder what would happen if Ms. Palin had only organized a community service in Chicago and be a senator, would she be treated like an experienced individual. Obama is the inexperienced one, he knows how to talk...yet I have heard people talk good and badly, remember "read my lips no more taxes" and we got more taxes. Or remember "nuculear" backed up by advisors galore and look at the international mess we are in. It doesn''t matter if one talks well or not, Obama has no experience, not even passing good regulations even though he was a senator. Palin is a governor and was a Mayor for God''s sake, Obama has done nothing with accountability. He knows how to talk yet he never answers anything to the point he always makes people feel good and that is it. No detail, no strategy but that of sounding good. If Obama was governor of Alaska and had been mayor everyone would say what great experience he had in foreign affairs by looking out his window into Russia, yet people are dismissing that Alaska is in a different geopolitical situation.
