CBS Evening News Exclusive: Couric Asks McCain About The Moves He's Making To Mend The Fiscal Crisis
- The Obama camp is lambasting a McCain campaign supporter who lobbied for Fannie May. In the meantime, Jim Johnson, the former CEO of Fannie May, and Tom Daschle are working on a benefit breakfast for the Obama campaign. Obama is a hypocrite and a liar; it seems what%u2019s good for the goose is NOT GOOD for the gander where Obama is concerned. Johnson, who managed a sweetheart deal for his own mortgage from the failed Fannie May, is still campaigning for Obama, after Obama was exposed for receiving more than 100,000 dollars from Fannie May lobbyists. And now Fannie May, and Jim Johnson, are under investigation for fraud. This stinks to high heaven of the Tony Rezko association Obama has been connected to; of that incident, Obama somehow found a 300,000 dollar break on a sweetheart deal on a 1.6 mansion dollar mansion and still had another $105,000 to buy a strip of land from the Rezkos to expand his yard; Obama defended his association with Rezko and friends, who have donated $120,000 to Obama%u2019s 2004 campaign by say it was "a bone-headed mistake." And now a million dollar grant, he gave for the %u201CGreen Thumb%u201D botanical garden in Chicago, which was never built, is under scrutiny. Is it just me, or does Obama%u2019s association with all of these corrupt real estate developers, financial gurus, Political figures, and left wing radicals speak towards his lack of judgment? Why any one would even consider voting for Obama is beyond me.

- McCain needs to suspend the campaign so that he can take a crash course on economics. He has got Palin taking a crash course on foreign affairs, and he needs to understand the economy. Just think, these people can become qualified for Vice President and President after a two day cram course. You too could be qualified, just get yourself a copy of Presidency or Vice Presidency for Dummys and in two days you too could get in the race.

- You poor disillusioned liberals, sit there in your homes all huddled up with Katie Couric, Charlie Gibson, Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt and think that all of the world''s problems are all George Bush''s fault. You think Obama on his Arabian stallion is going to ride up and save the day. Well I hate to break it to you but no one will be able to save us unless we stop bad-mouthing God and stop trying our feeble attempts at pretending He doesn''t exist. The bible talks about false prophets who will rise up and people will be deceived. Well I know who is deceived and I really hate it for you. I feel sorry for you.

- McLame''s "suspended campaign" reminds me of Janet Jackson''s "costume malfunction".
He''s a war hero but afraid to battle Obama? He thinks voters are stupid enough to fall for that obvious political gimmick?
Then too, maybe we are too hard on him. Maybe he does not buy gas, or food, or school clothes, or pay rent or a mortgage note. There may not be one laptop in any of his 7 mansions and all the TV sets may be on the blink. Maybe his memory is shoter than a minute. Maybe his rich wife spends all her time out shopping for $300,000 dresses with her socialite friends and never says a word to him.
Here''s a better one: Maybe he should "suspend" his run for the White House and save us voters the time of going to the polls and electing Sen. Obama as our next leader.
America needs a real leader. Obama is a real leader. - Reply to this comment
- This is what this country gets!!!! This country had this financial disaster coming!!!! All you rich people who supported not just the first Bush but both Bush''es. This country allowed Bush to cheat during the election and now the chickens are coming home to roost!!!!! Dont cry now America!!!! Awww we want a new president. What is the new president gonna do? Huh? What? This country is so deep in debt that the next two presidents wont be able to get us out!!!!! The problem with this country is the people who really run this country (american citizens) or are supposed to run this country have no backbone and accepts whatever the government tells them. REVOLUTION PEOPLE!!!!! REVOLUTION!!!!!!!! If the american citizen woke up and realized how much power he or she has then this MODERN DAY SLAVERY WOULDNT TAKE PLACE!!!!! This man destroyed Iraq and then the american budget AND WASNT HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ANYTHING!!!!!!. We are still paying this man to ruin our country even more!!!!. George Bush should have been impeached for the war in Iraq!!!! This country did nothing!!!!. This country didnt want to go to war and because one man had a grudge against another (Saddam) thousands of people lost their lives and the U.S. lost billions because of that stupid war. THAT''S WHAT THIS COUNTRY GETS FOR LETTING A RUTHLESS DICTATOR, YES DICTATOR GEORGE W. BUSH RUN THIS COUNTRY INTO THE GROUND AND NOT HAVING THE BALLS TO IMPEACH HIM!!!!!!

- Katie says Palin brought up the Great Depression...Check your transcript! Couric is the one who brought up the Great Depression! This woman makes me sick! She''ll be campaigning for Obama next week.
Couric: If this doesn''t pass, do you think there''s a risk of another Great Depression?
Palin: Unfortunately, that is the road that America may find itself on. Not necessarily this, as it''s been proposed, has to pass or we''re going to find ourselves in another Great Depression. But, there has got to be action - bipartisan effort - Congress not pointing fingers at one another but finding the solution to this, taking action, and being serious about the reforms on Wall Street that are needed.
McCain: Earlier today, senator, I spoke with your running mate, Sarah Palin, and she told me that if action is not taken a Great Depression is, quote, "The road that America may find itself on." Do you agree with that assessment? - Reply to this comment
- Isn''t this the guy who just said last week that the US economy is strong?
And, didn''t he say sometime last year that he doesn''t understand economics?
And, isn''t he the same guy who can''t power up a PC?
Mr McCain, using a PC is a hell of a lot easier than understanding (much less fixing) the US economy.
Your lame attempt at dodging the debate with Obama this Friday because of the bailout is pathetic. - Reply to this comment
- "Mr. Obama in your speach at former Pres. Clintons Global Initiative you want to fund $2 Billion for maliara in Aferica. Where is the money to come from?"

Gee professor, how about the trillions of dollars we have already flushed down the toilet in Iraq? Huh? Maybe we could let go of .1% of the Iraq budget (yes, that''s POINT ONE) to help another country that isn''t profiting of oil?
God, sometimes the ignorance that spews forth from some of you right wing nutjobs is just scary - Reply to this comment
