CBS Evening News: Obama And McCain Answer Katie Couric's Presidential Questions
- Wow Katie....
Such insight... now I really look forward to your interview with Sarah Palin. Be sure to ask her what her favorite color is. - Reply to this comment
- Wow, Katie, did you play softball when you were a kid? Because you throw a mean 9-foot arc. Thanks for a useless, easy question that illuminates nothing and makes both candidates seems the same. How ''bout a follow-up to McCain: "Then why do you think it''s okay to lie to the American public in a campaign ad?"

- I don''t understand, McCain lies throughout his entire campaign, but expects us to believe he''ll only tell the truth as president? And his statement, "you could draw a scenario where Americans were facing a threat to our very existence and you had to not have them panic" leaves too much open to his interpretation (remember the non-existent WMD in Iraq). Besides, if we''re facing a threat to our existence I''M SURE I''D WANT TO KNOW THAT.

- Ooops...He Lied. Again.
Newsweek and New York Times report that John McCain has been caught lying about his campaign manager''s lobbying on behalf of Fannie Mae.
McCain said that Rick Davis had long ago severed ties with Fannie Mae. Not true. His lobbying firm has received $15,000 per month each month until...last month. - Reply to this comment
- YES INDEED THERE HAVE BEEN MOMENTS WHERE BIDEN AND OBAMA DID NOT AGREE. YOU''RE CORRECT ON THAT ISSUE. MY P0INT IS THAT IF THE VP HAD TO TAKE OVER OFFICE FOR EITHR PARTY, I WOULD MUCH RATHER HAVE A PRESIDENT WHO AT LEAST HAS HIS OWN MIND/OPINIONS THEN A PRESIDENT WHO IS JUST A SHADOW OF HER "TOP OF THE TICKET" PARTNER!!
OBAMA/BIDEN 08!! - Reply to this comment
- After the Clinton Administration and the Democrats in Congress... They no longer needed to prove to a bank that they had the ability to pay back those mortgages.
The blame ultimately should go to the Clintons.

WRONG!
Blame the greedy lenders who knew or should have known that the buyer was not capable of paying for their home at even the subprime rate, much less when the ARM kidked in, but then loaned tne $$ anyway. The subprime lender knew he was going to off load that loan in a package to someone else, without their complete knowledge about the loan, then it would become some elses problem...collapse of the investment banking system.
Did the govt cause this? Some of it by dereg the investment banking industry. This industry didn''t take the time to look over all the loans in the package before they bought and sold it. Like signing a contract and not reading the fine print.
Did the subprime lenders cause this? Definately. It would be fair to say they were not totally honest and truthful (they lied) about what they were selling, just going after the $$.
Who made all the $? Sumprime lenders? - Reply to this comment
- Fenner and all the republicans:
One question. How do you explain Palin''s
statement that she visited Iraq and Ireland? According to McCain''s campaign people, Palin went to a border crossing between Kuwait/Iraq and traveled inside Iraq about a mile. Then on her way home the plane stopped to refuel in Ireland.
Were these LIES or just a confused mind?
Not a good thing either way!!!!
I could go on and on but, you get my point?
