"My first day in office, I will bring the Joint Chiefs of Staff in and I will give them a new mission," Barack Obama said in July. "That is to end this war."

And John McCain said on Memorial Day in New Mexico: "As long as there is a reasonable prospect for succeeding in this war, then we must not choose to lose it."

---------------------------------------------

We do not have a choice. We cannot win the war and we cannot lose the war. We have to withdraw and let Iraq do what it will. The sooner we withdraw the better. It is simply not worth the price.

This report is terribly biased. By focusing on the horrific experience of the soldier who almost lost his life, you distract the viewer from the candidates and their positions on the issue. Further, you appeal to viewer sympathy for the soldier and imply that the view in favor of continuing the war that he & his wife hold is the only sympathetic position. If you wanted to include this soldier''''s story for dramatic effect, then why not also include a dramatic story of a wounded individual who favors ending the war immediately without trying to "win"? The answer is this: you are biased in favor of continuing the war and you attempt to manipulate the viewer to share your bias.

Exactly what I thought when I read it. Numerous military families would gladly withdraw with trying to "win".

I bet the Europeans are really excited about Palin''s comments on ABC. The Russians are about an hours drive away by tank. Less by missile.

Yes. Looks like with McCain we will be there for the next 100 years because he cannot be complicit in withdrawal.

Maybe we should go back and win Viet Nam. Maybe this is what is realy eating him.

"This journalist starts with a premise that is defeatist.
The discussion should not be how to "end" the war, but how to "win" the war".

Absolutely agree! This writer exhibits a defeatist attitude much like the Democratic congressman have shown for the last 5 years. It has almost seemed as if the Democrats wanted defeat for the US to just get back at President Bush. They won''t admit this...However, there actions and history seems to see it that way.
In my opinion, I think the enemy was emboldened because of the lack of unity in this country.
And, if we haven''t learned by now, we must never go to war unless we plan to defeat the enemy or country completely and unconditionally. This defeat doesn''t occur until there will to war with us is smashed. This hasn''t been done since WW2.

"Well, you say you''re sure she has the experience, but again, I''m just asking for an example," Caldwell said. "What experience does she have in the field of national security?" McCain responded:

"Energy. She knows more about energy than probably anyone else in the United States of America. She''s a governor of a state where 20% of America''s energy supply comes from there. And we all know that energy is a critical and vital national security issue. We''ve got to stop sending $700 billion of American money to countries that don''t like us very much. She''s very well versed on that issue."And, uh, she also happens to represent, be governor of a state that''s right next to Russia. She understands Russia."

I''m afraid this is just embarrassingly incoherent. First, the notion that Palin''s proximity to Russia counts as national security experience continues to be unusually stupid, even for McCain.

Wow- keep it up. Real Americans will reject these nasty tactics of the McCain campaign to slander and sleaze their way into the most powerful position in the world.

Unbelieveable.

Folks, I don''t know what we will experience under an Obama presidency, but I do know what we will experience under McCain......we can''t survive 4 more years, we''re stretched too far militarily, and our economy is in the pits. Please spare me the Hitler and Castro comparisons, they''re stale by now. We need something different, Obama is our only hope; good night!

I saw a little blue bird sitting in a great oak tree singing a song of freedom. Then came a hunter with his sling shot loaded and ready to fire.

Will he choose to take the life of this sweet bird. Or let the bird live to continue singing the song of freedom.

FREEDOM.. UNITED WE STAND DIVIDED WE FALL.. NATIONS ARE WATCHING!!!

CHOOSE WISELY..

WE HOLD THESE TRUTHS TO BE SELF-EVIDENT, THAT ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL, THAT THEY ARE ENDOWED BY THEIR CREATOR WITH CERTAIN UNALIENABLE RIGHTS, THAT AMONG THESE ARE LIFE, LIBERY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS...

Sarah are you & Senator McCain really going to shake up Washington??

Will you do something about the due nothing Washington crowd??

Will you clean up the messes and stand for what is right??

If you really can... WE THE PEOPLE of this Great Country will STAND with you.

We''''''''re ready for a real CHANGE.

Are you & Senator McCain ready to make the changes???

SARAH.. be our voice.. be strong & courageous.

The only reason McCain let OPbama listen to his answers is because he knows Obama does not have a chance to win the election.
