- Again, everyone here is missing the point! Nobody is asking the appropriate question. Why are we even paying income taxes?
They (the Democans and Republicrats) have all of you FOOLED into believing that income taxes are a necessary evil.
Can any of you imagine putting an average of 25% back into your pockets? Can you imagine what it could do for your families? Can you even imagine what this would do for our economy?
We all work through April just to pay our tax bill to a fascist, puppet government. Wake up people! ABOLISH THE FEDERAL RESERVE!!! - Reply to this comment
- Thank you for running a story that actually has to do with issues. All the other media folk are doing their "pig with lipstick" thing. We need to know where each candidate stands on issues. People are truly hurting, losing jobs, pensions, health care, and houses while CEO''s (including those at Fanny and Freedie) are getting golden parachutes. Poor and middle class people are caught paying the highest inflation in 27 years when their incomes have declined in the last eight years. The government will have 407 billion added to the debt this year alone. We are fighting two wars, and Russia is thumbing her nose at us knowing we are powerless. And the media is writing and talking about things like whether or not John McCain and Sarah Palin stand too close together. She hasn''t even done a news conference or a real non-powderpuff interview yet! Require all the candidates to talk about the issues. Don''t let this personality, smear stuff continue by putting it on the air and encouraging it.

- I think Anthony Mason is an idiot.
He never said what the tax differential would be for either the middle or the high income couple.
He posted the higher tax rates being proposed and never stated the income required to get to that marginal bracket.
He said the higher income couple would be in a higher bracket if their income went up. DUH! He didn''t say how much their income would have to go up to be in that higher bracket. I assume $250,000.
Guess what, if that low income couple increases their income, they will be a higher tax bracket.
I found the simplistic report to be insulting to their audience. - Reply to this comment

- It is supposed to be a story comparing McCain and Obama tax plans.
Note the part where they get to the Wilson''s -
The Wilsons are at the other end of the spectrum, earning $213,000. That puts them in the 28 percent bracket. If Gilbert''s business improves, his income could push him into the 33 percent bracket, which under Obama''s plan would jump to 36 percent of income.
"That would be painful. Another 8 percent of the income," Gilbert said.
Think about the slight of hand - "if" his business improves (meaning he were to enter what is now the 33% bracket) he would be in the 36% bracket under the Obama plan. What if his business failed? What is is income went down by 20%? The only fair comparison would have been his current level of 28%. What reporter Anthony Mason did was misleading and unfair.
I have never called a reporter in my life, but just did now. I suggest you have your listeners call and email CBS and Mason so they know we are watching these things closely. - Reply to this comment

TOO BAD that ALASKAN OIL is GOING TO ASIA instead of the LOWER 48! - Reply to this comment
- In the Obama tax plan - if people are receiving money from the goverment that they did not earn and did not pay in, isn''t that called welfare?

- From the Time magazine post this morning.
Back to reality. Of the 50 states, Alaska ranks No. 1 in taxes per resident and No. 1 in spending per resident. Its tax burden per resident is 2 1/2 times the national average; its spending, more than double. The trick is that Alaska''''s government spends money on its own citizens and taxes the rest of us to pay for it. Although Palin, like McCain, talks about liberating ourselves from dependence on foreign oil, there is no evidence that being dependent on Alaskan oil would be any more pleasant to the pocketbook.

Yeah it would. Every dollar we get from drilling our own oil, keeps another dollar out of the Islalmofast bastwards pockets that killed 3,000 of our people!
And it''s dollars and jobs invested in the US!!!!
