Why when you run a story don''t you run a place where you as CBS could set up a fund to help? I''m retired but would give $20 to $ 50 to help, We liberals an there are a lot of us out there, would help.
Vote Obama and with the change that comes maybe there
maybe will be far less families to help.

Hey CoolBeans...

I called their house - left a message. Am certain they''re being over run by crackpots.

Local paper is researching to do the story, local tv station may or may not be - can''t get a clear answer, church isn''t "officially" involved - which I understand completely. And I don''t know what church she cleans, so can''t contact them. I didn''t recognize the interior from the shots they showed, so am of no use that way.

As soon as I know more, I''ll post it.

And, even if folks were able to assist in any substantial way, it would be temporary. I''m afraid they''ll need to look for an apartment. There are many in the area, so the money can be used toward that. I doubt they''ll be able to save the house.

But - you never know!

I guess that insurance, the one thing no one thinks they need would have helped. In California you can''t have a license without insurance, I would never hire an unlicensed contractor. Why can''t the wife work full time. Maybe it is time to move out of over priced NY. Common sense can stop alot of these things from happening. The insurance would have been cheaper in the long run.

Leslie,
Did you ever call the news station or the church today? Just wondered if they were formally looking for donations or able to help in any way. I checked online records in Broome County (mainly to get address verification) and I see where the house is being auctioned this Monday, 8/11. Not much time left.

Stefan,

I''ll back off. No worries. There isn''t much left to say to either of you anyway.

I don''t know the Hudy''s. Never have. Probably never will.

But I do know the internet. And I know how easy it is for cowards to slam someone anonymously through the electronic medium.

I could call you a drunken pedophile, but it wouldn''t make it true. It might be, it might not be. There''s no way to verify it.

The local media are doing their own investigation to report the Hudy''s case. Talk to them. Talk to the cops. If what you say is true - he should be in jail. I know many of the cops in the area - I could introduce you to them if you''d like.

But last I knew, you''re innocent until proven guilty. And without even an arrest, it''s hard to put anything that has been said by 2 anonymous sources as anything other than rumor.

What''s your problem Stefan49? Why are you trying to slander these people so that no one wants to help them? Would you care to elaborate what they did to you, or why you think they are undeserving of help? Their house is in foreclosure and they''re getting handouts from the Food Bank. They appear to be in dire straits to me. Why do you think they shouldn''t be helped? Enlighten us, please.

onedandylyon.....

Would you back it off a little if someone tells you that they really know what''s going on in this case? That they know this family and both of their famillies---and most of all how they lived most of their life?

There is several statements here that are based on the truth , and not on some sobbing reactions...get real!!!!

I''m disabled. Have been for 7 years. Sold everything I own and moved back in with my parents - who I now must care for. We all have a hard luck story.
Mark has RSD - it''s fatal. I have a female friend who''s had it for over a decade and is now bed bound. If it had been her husband who had become disabled, she most likely would be in Brenda''s place - unskilled labor.
And in this town, that''s a bad thing. We''ve been in a recession for years. And having to take care of 2 kids and a disabled husband - not an easy thing to do.
Without knowing more about the Hudy''s, I''m quite amazed at how many people are so quick to judge them. We don''t know what her health is like, how much they''ve sold, how much their family has been able to help them, how much she has already done to help out financially, how much HE has done to try to help out.
3 and a half minutes isn''t a very long time to get a family''s life story out to the nation.
Help if you want. Don''t if you don''t want to.
But I''ve been judged because my disability is "invisible" - I have no scar, am not missing a limb, can still speak and see. But it doesn''t mean I''m not disabled. My brother and I barely speak because he judged me one too many times.
Those of you who look down on the disabled - Karma exists. The Brink is a pretty harsh place to be and I doubt you could handle it.

70,000 A YEAR AND HE DIDNT HAVE INSURANCE

posted by tootall10142 -

Let this be a warning to y''all who are NOT in foreclosure yet. (All 10 of you, ha ha.)

The lesson here is that INSURANCE IS PRICELESS.

Quit going to Starbucks, quit driving your kids everywhere, quit eating fast food and start cooking at home and pack your lunch, take away their cell phones, and surprise, surprise -

You''ll be able to afford insurance that could literally save your entire family''s life and future.

This is ridiculous--obviously you know nothing of insurance, it will be a revelation to you and many others, when/if you need that disability insurance and they come up with some trumped up rationale to NOT pay you or to short you on the money--happens all the time....
by babooph August 7, 2008 3:50 PM EDT
Gramm does not like this whining he will come up with the many thousands the govt. gave him in his massive ten year tax returns to pay for all this family problem.See how easy it is !!

Your claims are unsubstantiated for the sole reason that just because you write it doesn''t make it true. Just as with CBS reporting it, doesn''t necessarily make it true.
And if he''s such a big time drug dealer - A - where is the money going? and B - why haven''t you gone to the police before now? I would think that would have been one of the first things you had done.
Grudges are a bad thing NYRick2. Sorry you hold one so tightly.
And I''m not judging his addiction or his dealing until I know more. It''s not for me to judge. And I''m not making his kids pay for his crimes. That''s wrong.

I listened to this on my radio driving home from work. Initially I thought: Oh, another family like mine. I''ll begin with mine: My husb. had an actual SURGERY, a cervical fusion. He last worked May 10, 2008. No short term or long term disability. He sold his boat to cover the $2,000.00 the neurosurgeon required up front in ADDITION to health ins. I''m 46 & have a daughter age 5. To maintain our health ins. during allowable COBRA x, I took $2,000.00 out of life ins. accrual. (Lost health ins. after Cobra exp. Denied coverage by all other''s finally found cov w/ Assurant for child. I opened a booth at rural flea market &n sold my canoe, emerald ring, outgrown clothes & toys. I got up at 4a.m. & hit garg. sales on the way to work for resell at ANY profit. I went on WE''s too. I sold my signed lithographs off my walls, my depression glassware. I supported my family & kept my child in private pre-k. & worked my FULL X job.
We do not have cable (never have), do not buy cold drinks (never have) we drink water &milk, all clothes are line dried. We have 0 home computer, internet or video games.

POINT; next x u want to tell me about middle class American''s on the brink: 1) tell me a story that involves a man with a real recognizable med. cond. 2) show me a wife/mother doing MORE than PART x cleaning a church.

I think you should hire me if this is the best Seth Doane can do. How much does he make?

NO Internet. WOW--So... just how are you managing to post on line, are you at the library posting? If so, you seem to have time to get another job...instead of posting on the INTERNET. Something REEKS in your little story, lil momma.

Mark is a drug addict and dealer. He currently sells and uses various pain pills as well as several other illicit drugs as he has for over 20 years. It truly sickens me that a news agency ...would run this story with no background check.
Posted by nyrick2 at 08:04 AM : Aug 07, 2008

Rick, if you grew up in NY, then I''m sure the name TAWANA BRAWLEY is familiar to you. The news brought you THAT story, too. And they "forgot" to report the key fact that the letters were WRITTEN UPSIDE DOWN on the girl''s belly.

BACKGROUND CHECK??? Don''t make me laugh. Being a drug dealer is A REQUIREMENT to get such friendly treatment by the news media.

So Tawana Bradley was being teabagged while they wrote on her? It just gets uglier and uglier, huh? LOL
