Memo to self: Cancel plans to move to Florida or Georgia! Remember the phrase "Going Postal"? I can''t think of another place that is more volatile than the workplace. People get on other people''s nerves for years and years. Feuds erupt and go on forever. Now you can snap at home, and take your 9mm to the workplace and sets things straight! For every two steps we make in progress; we take three backwards!... Glad I''m retired. I know a lot of crazy people where I worked that would have loved to blow someone''s face off!

I do not own a gun but I am in favor of CCW laws. How many helpless people (customers, students, employees) have been cut down and maimed by some gun wielding lunatic and had absolutely NO way to defend themselves? Imagine a manager coming out of his office and being able to gun someone down who was harming another person.

Guns only have power if they are given it. People who were terrorized by the gunman yesterday in the church might have stopped him sooner had they been able to shoot him. Why is it that ONLY the criminals have the guns?

Sounds like this country may be reverting back to the days of the "Old West" where the gun was the law. I think in one way that yes a person who is of sound mind and judgment should be allowed to carry a gun for protection, but where is the line drawn that it is a sound person who wants a gun for protection and not a crazed maniac who is mad at the world and wants to take everyone he can out. A person gets fired or gets into a rift with his/her co-worker so they goes out to the car to get a gun to come back in and start shooting. I don''t see how authorities can make sure that only those who are of a sane mind will carry a gun.

Don''t know where you live but every place i know that allows CCW the crime rate has dropped significantly, after a few well placed rounds in criminals. I am not as much worried about the terrorists as i am about the criminal element in this country. They ar out of control and we need to take our country back.

Each locality could offer at the citizen applicant''s own expense thorough background and mental checks and training subject to re-affirmation annually to people who would like to carry publicly without restriction like police, for protection. This way, the population might have a chance of being protected going about their daily lives.

The constitution was written telling us we have the right so that the government cannot become a dictatorship. You want to call people animals that want to protect themselves. If the criminals didn''t act like animals we wouldn''t have a need to protect ourselves.

It''s amusing how anti-gunners think everyone is a psychotic killer in waiting. A little self-projection, maybe? Do you ever think about the fact that police and military members are even more well-armed than we are, and are also regular people? Lets put a stop to mass shootings by deranged police officers, and disarm the police force! Sound absurd? That''s because police do not commit many crimes as a group, and concealed carry license holders statically commit even less crime.

The right to self defense is the most fundamental right we have as free people. Without it, you cannot protect your other rights. The government has neither the responsibility nor the power to ensure your safety as an individual. Only you can do that. It''s time that you took charge of your own personal safety. Do not be a potential crime victim waiting to happen. Your vulnerability endangers us all by encouraging crime.

Getting to the specifics of this law in question, it makes absolutely no sense to have gun free zones in a country filled with guns. Unless an area is protected by metal detectors, then it should not prohibit guns. The reason? There''s nothing to stop a criminal intent on murder from walking right into your work place and shooting the place up. The fact is that if someone is intent on committing murder, they won''t care if it''s illegal to carry a gun in that particular location. We should have learned that at Virginia Tech.
